Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

Thanks guys, I am very happy with the way this rifle turned out both in terms of how it looks but more importantly how it shoots.
For everyone using a .375CT, what is the heaviest, most ballistically efficient projectile that would stabilise out of a 1 in 10" Krieger? The current barrel is a Lawton 11.5", but I have 2 Krieger barrels with the same profile which I will be chambering at the same time when the current barrel is worn out. Has anyone tried the 350gr Hookers in standard bore/groove dimensioned barrels? I recall hearing they dont work real well in anything other than the Lawton LRB spec barrels.

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

Thanks 458, I'll order a bunch of the GS bullets.
DUH has asked me about a rifle like this, but the company I work for isnt interested in bulding them commercially just yet.
This rifle was built on a Wild Dog stock made here in Australia, it was based around one of their non-thumb hole tactical stocks but extensively modified to take the big Barnard P-Chey action. They widened the fore end to about 2.5" and added a fair bit to weight to the stock( all up with scope it weighs 25 pounds).

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

does anyone have any of the 355gr GSC SP's for sale?
I can order them via the New Zealand distributor, but he can be difficult to deal with, so if anyone has a couple hundred they are happy to sell, please let me know!
Cheers,

Andrew

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

I have a stupid question for you not related to your fine looking rig there. I was under the impression that OZ laws banned firearms, or was that only pistol. Sorry if this is BS question but I'd like to know anyway.

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

mate, the laws here are pretty crap. Each state is different, but where I live we are pretty restricted. You can only own a pistol here if you are a member of a club and attend a certain number of shoots each year and hunting with pistols is illegal. Semi auto rifles and shotguns, including .22lr, are basically impossible to get unless you are a primary producer. .50BMG and just recently .408CT are also not allowed, and I know they are targeting .338Lap as being " too powerfull for civilian use".
Compared to what you guys have there, we have it pretty tough

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

Great looking rig, and I like the stock as well. It looks like the indent in the palm area would be very comfortable. Reminds me of a Lone Wolf XT Tactical stock here in the states.

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

The stock is very comfortable to use, and feels fantastic in the hand. The company I work for now distributes Manners stocks in Australia and New Zealand, so I dont use many Wild Dog stocks these days but they are a very nice stock still.

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

How do you like the versapod? Do you mind if I ask what model it is that you have?

I have a Manners MCS-T50 stock coming with a versapod stud and ultimately I would like to utilize that bipod mounting option. However, I haven't decided if I should order an atlas without an adapter and have an adapter made to fit the stud or give one of the beefy newer versapods a try. The entire rifle should weigh in at about 30lbs with optics.

Good going on the build, looks amazing!

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

The bipod on this rifle is a Rock Creek SopMod, not a versa pod. I cant say Im overly impressed with it, I got it for a good price when the group buy was on a while back and it has worked ok, but I would really like something more solid.
The only reason I went with that option is that the bipod mounting system on the Wild Dog stock wasnt working on this big rifle. Basically, the two securing studs on a Harris bibod went up into the stock and tightened down over a mating part set into the stock, but under recoil the bipod was popping out.
Having said all that, I cant complain too much, the Sopmod worked well enough that I could accurately shoot over 2000yds.

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

What kind of paint job is it. Di you use netting for the shadow marks? Love the rifle, looks like a blast to shoot. Interested to see how 2.5k turns out.

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

Beautiful piece of work there Aussie.
i'm looking to get my hands on one of those Wild Dog stocks in the near future for my Nesika action.
i believe that MT guns are the importer to the U.S

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

the trigger is the standard Barnard trigger that comes with the action, and is a 3 stage unit. Anyone who has used these triggers will attest to how good they are.
Wild Dog made the stock and also did the paint work, it really looks good in typical dry Australian conditions.

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

beautiful rifle.
do you use a ballistic program? which one has the data needed for over 2000 yards (for 375 cheytac)?
I currently use bulletflight for iphone.

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

Hey guys, I just came back from the SHOT show, and I happen to have some of those 355 SP's! Thought I doubt it would help you much over there in OZ. Shipping from SA to here, then to there would be a lot! I can get you more direct if you would like I guess. Just thought I would mention it since I happen to have some .375's. Still my absolute favorite Caliber...the "Do-All" size!

Re: .375 Cheytac pictures at last

thanks. It does work great for me. i made a hit at 1 mile on my first try using my 300 WM. The elevation predicted by bulletflight was dead on as well as windage.
