that's another boomer initiativeI think you could look at all those jumping the fences, which I would think would answer that ??.
We take care of people who shouldn't be here well before we help or do anything for the USA born and raised here
Killing the communist motherfuckers in the teachers union was frowned upon.....You built the world in which we live... yet your not happy what that world taught the youth...
So you're mad at yourself???
that's another boomer initiative
House prices have doubled relative to income in two generations. More or less in some places. That’s made some people very rich but it’s been bad for the nation...and it was caused by the government.Individuals aka people,
Or companies hiring people ?
The majority of todays people are mortgaged into net negative the day they sign the first loan paper,
The majority have no savings to pay off the due notes if income shorts or stops.
I was that way for 35 years, praying no bust and not have to go bankrupt. Knew the gamble. But. I had a plan, and got there.
Might be luckier than most.
Classy fella.I had a side job selling booze for Meyer Lansky! I was a knuckle breaker as well!??
No, I’m related distantly to D’Amicos so I heard stories. He’s going to have to google Meyer Lansky, right ?![]()

What do you think we should have done?
You should push to institute this idea.Require a non-partisan civil service, mandate curriculum that educated on the dangers of socialism and encourage right leaning people to become teachers.
I know most won't like this but think of SS and the levels for paying in, then the limits set for stopping the tax on the wealthy.
Some work most of the year to pay the SS taxes and others 1-2 mos.
Don't get me wrong if your can make that much money more power to you but on the other hand does it sound right??
Curriculum mandates are a fight in state legislatures every year. You should push to institute this idea.
Who gets to mandate?
Let me know your results.

The next crash is well on it’s way....@Ryan Scott
Here, house prices have tripled related to income since 1960. Why I said today, people are net negative the day they sign.
Were the 500+/- assholes sitting in the house and Senate, who voted those initiatives into law, boomers or greatest gen......
Who actually passed them. Can u name the acts and the years passed. Under which president?
I'm curious, not shit stirring.
And it’s intentional government policies driving the cost increase, largely to benefit current owners.@Ryan Scott

the housing market is set to tank again very soon.@Ryan Scott

And as we see and have seen how we have gotten here.Curriculum mandates are a fight in state legislatures every year.
I like that idea! I don’t disagree with all you have said. Just the part about the old people!Require a non-partisan civil service, mandate curriculum that educated on the dangers of socialism and encourage right leaning people to become teachers.

the same government policies demand mass immigration to drive down wages so that they and the stockholders benefit, and their banker masters have more control. Then, overtax what little we do make, and treat us like livestock who are only here to produce for our masters. How does the story end? My kids will end up living in a society where they are unwanted outsiders, reviled for their culture and shunned from jobs. And it’s intentional government policies driving the cost increase, largely to benefit current owners.
I was being sarcastic about losing them. My grandmother is in lockdown. We sent her a care package smothered in Lysol by leaving it on her porch. I haven’t seen her in person in three weeks.I like that idea! I don’t disagree with all you have said. Just the part about the old people!
I know. We need to break that. Republicans worry too much about being ideologically pure, and not enough about winning. I suggest that we realign college subsidies to favor STEM, and require universities that accept federal funds have ideological diversity rather than just Marxists and Liberals.we get run out of the "club". Relegated to the worst classes, and "observations" by admin every day in an attempt to find fault. One Black Panther admin guy tried to write me up for a lesson plan that I had invented. The next year, a teacher out west won "teacher of the year" for coming up with the exact same idea.

Correct.
Interest rates are almost zero though. My dad paid 18+ %Housing prices are the major divergence. Millennials own a fraction of the housing wealth that boomers owned at the same age.

Hmmm by your quote so electricity is way over priced. Captive market so you guys and or the people at the top can name the price and get way over paid.
I’ve seen how lazy the utilities have become around here. Glorified county workers using outside companies to do a pile of the work
And lol at you thinking other people don’t work nights holidays and weekends
Is electricity overpriced? That depends on who you ask. I worked for a municipal government where we operated both a power plant and a large metropolitan water system. We did double duty as both water and hydro guys, saving taxpayers basically 7 FTE's from the payroll. We could pump water using our own electricity and the city always added the electricity into the cost of the water as if they had purchased it from the local utility.
We transferred power to a utility switch yard a mile away so we had very little overhead infrastructure, instead of keeping linemen on the payroll we contracted to save money. All of our equipment was "run to failure", meaning the city paid for as little maintenance as possible over the working life of the equipment and when it finally blows up, we replace it. Saves a ton on PM's and maintenance workers, but means you hire contractors to replace everything and get it up and running as quickly as possible if it dies, it usually dies in the dead of winter or heat of summer.
So yes, the company guys might look like "glorified county workers" to the average idiot. But, when you have a 10 man job and three mechanics and one electrician with no instrumentation specialists you are fucked when stuff really fails. A good instrument tech is $100K a year and since you are a cheap fucker he works somewhere else.
The city owned the water system and charged for the water at reasonable rates and then the city had a utility tax on the water it sold. So every year they raised one or both rates which always seemed like a double screwing for rate payers. We were considered an "enterprise fund" meaning we self-funded our department selling water and power and put 15% away for capital projects, repairs and maintenance. The rest went to the general fund to pay for idiots at city hall. BTW, the utility taxes generate money for the general fund as well.
Capital projects cost millions, 36" ductile iron water main used to be about $160 a foot, imagine needing a mile of it and a dozen 36" valves, a trench and repaving a mile of city street. When the capital project fund got fat, every butt sucking councilman wanted to raid it for their pet projects, gay housing or some crap.
I never set the price on anything, electrical or water. Someone adds in the cost of hundreds or even thousands of non-productive over head types, managers, billing, accounting, dozens of useless engineers, secretaries and janitors, landscapers, idiot step-sons or dumb fuck nephews. I worked for a utility where every manager and engineer had their own secretary, most of those women did nothing all day but wander around in fuck me pumps and tight blouses. Every manager had their own personal Ford Explorer on the company dime. Yeah, I heard endless assholes bitch that we had an 800 Grizzly ATV with tracks to roar around with in the winter, but we had 6 miles of trails to climb into the national forest to check a small dam. Our power plant and dam was 55 miles from our headquarters and the nearest town had 500 people and one store. It costs money to get people who can do this job to live in a place like that.
That utility had an HR guy who was a lying douche. He wanted cameras to monitor the restroom doors to make sure you were not shitting to much on company time. He wanted microphones and cameras in every truck, not facing outside to watch for traffic, inside to monitor the conversations of the staff, he had heard they were talking bad about management. I'm not a big union guy, I pay my dues. But I am thankful for a written contract and federal laws protecting workers from this sort of shit.
And yes pensions work as described earlier. It is entirely possible to have three pensions and earned every one of them. It is possible to have three 401K's, 457K's or IRA's as well. You can also own two houses or three cars. Sometimes you can each more than once a day. If you didn't plan on retiring, that is your problem, I have spent my working life planning on a day when I won't have to work.
