I purchased a box of 200+ 30-06 brass from an estate sale and the head stamps were all from 1942, 1943, and 1944. Majority were from the Des Moines Ordnance Plant, some from Lake City, some from Twin Cities, and a couple with just a U on them so these are either Remington, Utah Ordnance, or UMC (Union Metallic Cartridge)...

All were 1x fired, still had the crimps.

I thought about keeping them for the nostalgia but I have enough crap laying around so I processed them to reload. They were pretty brown, 3 hours in the SS tumbler and they came out looking like new.

I wish I had the story behind these, I cant imagine much ammo made during WW2 would have been surplussed out with our GI's shooting it as fast as they could make it... The old fella was a WW2 vet. One could only imagine why he kept these for so long...

I am sure it will give me something to think about when I am pulling the trigger on a case that had not seen powder in 70 years.....

Nice! By the way, How much is 30-06 brass worth? My dad gave me some 30-06 brass marked LC NM and regular LC but I dont know what to get rid of it for.

It's a sure bet he lived through the depression in addition to WWII. If he's anything like my old man he kept everything, even if it was broken, because it's good stuff and will come in handy some day.

There's not many men of that generation still around to tell the history. I wish I had listened a little more intently when the stories were being told by my Dad.

I have been buying processed 1x shot 30-06 brass for 20 cents per. But that is processed! 1x shot brass that is not processed is going for about 7 cents per.

The 1x shot 30-06 brass for 20 cents per was purchased at the gun show in Rochester MN about a month ago. A man who had a table there with just brass had 500 1x shot totally processed LC brass for 20 cents each. I bought all of them. Two weeks ago I bought 800 1x shot 30-06 brass from Wild Goose sports in Rochester MN for 3 cents each that was unprocessed. I do not find these deals with other calibers, but I seem to find them for the 30-06.
