Opinions on best billet lower with most features etc

Looking to build a billet lower using the following .

POF trigger & kns pins

PWS billet buffer tube

JP silent capture buffer setup

CAA ARS buttstock with mono pod


Looking for opinions on what y'all feel is best billet lower and anything I haven't covered yet such as ambi safety, bad levers etc.

What brands etc should I be looking at or is there a good lower that has them built in already ??

Mega Billet set. I think Mega makes one of the finest receivers out there.

If I wanted a billet lower (there is absolutely no performance benefit) I would get a Seekins. POF triggers are solid, but they are not adjustable and a bit heavier than most people want for precision work. I have one in my "must work" AR. While I really like PWS stuff, I see only a downside to an aluminum buffer tube. Go with a Mil-spec steel tube.

The Noveske short throw ambi-safety is the best I have used and I went to the effort to replace all of my old safeties on both my match ARs and my "must work" ARs.

Mega does make a nice receiver set. I am building one up now actually.

Sun devil makes a decent one, and it looks more 'normal' than most. I have one of their lowers and it fits decently with my uppers.

Function wise they should all be the same. Fit finish and artistic design is really the only difference.

I don't like the looks of the Seekins SP223 lower. I would hold out for their SBA15 if you were to go that route. I just finished an SPR build with a Mega Arms ambi set and it's fucking legit. Plus it comes with a standard charging handle which is good enough for my purposes.

My two go to billet lowers are Seekins and Mega.....both are ambi and both are built right, all depends on the look you are going for (because the Seekins magwell takes some getting used to......I really like it personally, but some don't). Looks like you are headed in the right direction with high quality parts (POF trigger, JP silent capture spring, etc.). Report back once you have built it out. What upper will you be pairing it with?

I built a 5.56 AR based on a Wilson Combat Billet Matched upper/lower receiver. The receiver is made in house at Wilson. The machine work is absolutely beautiful and the rifle shoots as smooth as butter. Not to mention its a real tack driver.

KAC lowers are my favorite. You get an ambi mag release built in as well. I do have two seekins lowers though. I think the machining on them makes them stand out quite a bit. AXTS and Rainier are some other options outside of POF and Mega. You probably wont need to dive into a BAD lever because these are all ambi receivers. The KAC is also kinda ruled out if you are set on the PWS tube. The KAC lower has flush cup mounting points near the receiver extension (I tried this set up) and putting a PWS tube on with the relatively same sling attachment points looks pretty odd. I ended up ditching the buffer tube over the receiver though...

Nope, Noveske short throw ambi-safety. The best safety on the market IMHO.

Its a reduced throw switch. Don't rember the exact specs. Noveske/magpul safety selector. Now that I have two reduced throw switches of different makes ive found that I prefer the regular ambi selectors. Just an opinion though.

Noveske safeties are a 60 degree throw I believe great safeties. On the lower, Seekins is tough to beat. I love Knight's though. My 458 on the KAC...

Thanks for the input fellas and looks to be POF, SEEKINS, & MEGA are the top choices and from this thread appears Seekins is favored the most. The upper is a CTR-02 22" fully loaded JP upper in 223. I know the JP billet lower will match best but it lacks in features and has sharp edges etc that i don't really care for so thats why i'm looking for something else. Even thought of selling the JP billet upper bare and handguard and going with matching upper/lower and hanguard setup from Seekins or Mega. Not sure thats cost effective but i know i want to stay with a JP bcg ,barrel etc.


Has anyone used, seen or tried this lower? Rainer Arms sells the for $284 as pictured and looks like a nice rig.

They are made from 7075 T6 AL and Hard Coat Anodized per Mil-A-8625F, Type III, Class 2 .

There is zero benefit with a billet lower and in exchange for that, you get a cost and weight penaltly.

Like others have said, Glen seekins make great parts, as long as you like the looks.

That said, San Tan Tactical makes a billet lower that has really caught my interest for my next build. Rainier Arms has them in stock, FYI.

They also make the billets with a US Army, US Navy, USAF, USMC, USCG scroll mark.

While the QD pieces are nice, I still prefer Mega. I'm trying to find some build pics with those receivers...

I personally like the model w/o their roll mark on the mag well.

I have a billet seekins, my only complaint is the bolt release is sticking, when I empty a mag the follower dosent have enough ass to push it up unless I pull out on it after I use it. Going to polish it up and see if that helps. They are different looking, but it grew on me.

I had a short list of Mega, Seekins, and Black Rain. Wanted to do nickel boron and came across a Norguard Black Rain first. I like it and the fit and finish is great, but I don't think you would be disappointed with any of the others.

IMO, the ATXS might be the best if there is such a thing.

All the lowers listed in this thread are very good. I don't care for the looks of the Seekins but it's top tier shit. Another good one to take a look at is the Rainier billet.

I just picked up a Rainier Arms Ultramatch Billet lower yesterday. Got to say its a very nice lower. Everything was perfect on it size wise while putting it together. I know they dont actually make their own but alway snice to support a local company!

Really just go with the one you like the looks of best. They are all going ot be quality and work perfectly

This is like looking for the 64 million dollar answer to a loaded question. These days there are quite a few awesome lowers available with some fair prices. Billet with all the trick features isn't an issue it seems. Esthetics seems to be the one thing you need to settle on. My latest build I went with a billet Seekins and it's a nice piece of kit and mated up nicely to an Umbrella upper.

Surf around and you'll find no shortage of lowers. It can be a confusing hair pulling event if you're on the fence regarding any of them.

I have a black rain ordnance resceiver set that I built off of. I really like the fit and finish of it, but most billet receiver sets will have pretty good fit and finish whether it be Black Rain, Mega, Seekins, etc. I think the next rifle I put together it's gonna be one of these.

Well i snagged this lower, i'll see how it fits up and if its not for me i'll build one .

Heres the details on it, and yes its all new:

APA billet lower

PRS stock
JP silent buffer setup
ucwrg grip
kns pins
all other parts are milspec

If i like it i'll try my CAA ARS stock on it and pic one of the two stocks and sell the other.

Lots of machining marks on that APA. But it should work as it seems you go the trigger in okay.
