I presently have a March 10-60×52 tactical scope on my 6.5x47 built by Robert Gradious and love it.I just started buying parts for my next rifle that will be a 6BR repeater that will also be built by Robert.

For this rifle I am leaning towards the 8x-80x56mm tactical instead of the 10-60. Most of my shooting will be at 600 yards.

Does anyone have or looked through one that would like to share their experience/ thoughts on the March scope or should I just stick with another 60x

I know a lot of guys will question why I would want so much magnification. No real reason except I just would like to have it if needed and love the March for a scope.

I am in hopes of finding a good used one but if not I will just buy a new one.

Again any thoughts or experiences you would like to share with this scope would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Opinions on the March Tactical 8x80x56

I have and use the 10-60X, and it gets very dark when above 45-50X. I use it mainly on 40X as that is where the reticle is subtending at 1 MOA per line increment. One of the guys that I shoot with got the 8-80X and said it also gets dark above 50-60X. He thinks the 60X is a better use of funds.

I use mine on my 338LM Improved for 1,500 yards and beyond work in the desert so I can act as my own spotter if need be.

I see no reason to step up to the 80X, but to each his own. If you want it go for it.

Robert,

I use the 8x-80x56mm religiously in F-Class competition and Long Range hunting. It is really worth the extra $300 dollars over a 10x-60x52mm. I have used it on 80x many times from testing loads to 1000 yard target shooting. It is really a piece of art for the clarity it achieves at 80x. Most guys say it gets dark above 60x, which is true. It just doesn't get as dark as they say. For me 80x is completely useable. The fact that the magnification range is 10x contributes to the darkening. Plus what else can be compared to it? A S&B 12x-50x PMII is close but is only a 4x magnification range. If you are truly interested, like we do for anyone. Call us up put one on order and when you get the scope, take it to the range and look through it. As long as you don't mount it or damage it we will take it back for a full refund, no questions asked. That's if you don't like it
