Building a lightweight hunting rig that I plan to run suppressed. No one likes toting a can on a medium to heavy rifle, right?

Starting with a Remington Model seven in 300 WSM.

Proof CF barrel 22"
Factory Bottom Metal
Timney
McMillan Game Hunter

I am back and forth on the Edge Technology, McMillan says should not be a big balance issue. Suppressor is a Griffin Armament Alpha/Paladin rated for up to 300 Win Mag. From my conversations with McMillan, it will be about a 12oz difference between Edge and Glass fill. Thoughts and concerns of going the Edge Technology?

Also, should I just have a thread protector made, or is there a muzzle brake company I should be looking at?

Thanks!

I have not added up the weight differences. I have thought about it, but my experience with a 700 308 I have, is that the AICS mag limited my COAL. I know seating on or into the lans is not always necessary, but i have had bullets that like to be loaded into the lans. I am still a novice to all that is available for builds. What is a good light weight DBM and mag?

All of the aluminum drop mag metals weigh about the same...very little. Personally, I like Surgeon. As far as a mag, I like AICS 5 shot with the plate out and the lips tweaked to feed wsm. Holds 3 rds. It’s all moot if you are gonna use the 7.

I have seen a few DBM's for model seven's (Badger, CDI, PTG). I can always add one if I feel the need. Right now I am just ready to get in line for the McMillan.

I did. And like it so much I ordered another. Mine is a HTG edge though. the balance point is right around the recoil lug with the nx8 on it. It was just in front of the lug with a vx5hd.
