Oregon opens the door to confiscation

Am I a dick because I don't really give a crap about suicide? Japan has a vastly higher suicide rate than the US, and no guns. Last I looked USA isn't even in the top 10.

If I lived in OR anywhere near a border, except for the CA one, I'd so be moving out tomorrow. A lot of guys are gonna get fucked wholesale for revenge and the system won't give a shit, because they're "getting guns off the street."

Why are non residents of a state allowed to push their political agenda . Is that not a violation of states rights . I live in Pa and wouldn't want some commi pussy from Californistan influencing me . States rights equal my rights no . Maybe Gabby should fill her cock holster and shut the fuck up . I don't think any real Oregonians asked for a piece of her mind or whats left of it . This shit pisses me off squared like Bloomberg buying the Pa Gubernatorial election . WTF . If you don't live here fuck off .

The biggest reason they listed was that it would help address the number of suicides in the state. So...you take away their gun and they can't possibly figure out any other way to commit suicide? Man, I hope they keep that crap out there. As has been said, I'm willing to bet that the majority of people who experience the effects of this law will be victims of someone else's revenge, and will be wrongly accused.

That was my point on Japan having a much higher suicide rate. I should adjust my comments. In that i don't want to see someone commit suicide and if possible i would and have intervened (2 times).
What i hate is when suicide numbers are used to prop up crime numbers. That is what i could care less about.

Yeah go ahead and talk shit about the great state of Oregon. But, it's still a class 3 state and we can buy weed legally now! But.....
I wonder how long it going to be until the stupid governor realizes you can own a MG here? Waiting for my ex wife to get all my shit confiscated in the secret court.
No one gives a shit in the 503 area code. Three counties rule the state. Malheur county is loosing all its potato and onion sheds across the river to Idaho because of the new taxes here. Hundreds of millions of dollars leaving the state. You can't tax it if it ain't here. That stupid dike governor probably thinks Ontario is in Idaho anyhow.
Fuck it. If they outlaw my shit I'll just move across the river too.

If you have an evil ex, I'd suggest making sure all your stuff that you care about is already across the river.

I wonder how "imminent" is defined by the petitioner to the courts? I''m not an Oregon resident but curious how high the bar would be for establishing that the seizure of property needs to happen. I couldn't find the actual legislation but thinking if it's shabbily written somebody's up for a civil suit for taking your stuff and not being able to answer for how they established you were days, hours or minutes away from doing something drastic.

no one mentions oregon is pro euthanasia. this is the stupidest shit i have ever read.

Off subject but it is easy to say that until you have watched someone SUFFER 100x's more than you would let any other animal suffer. Seriously we treat dogs better than cryonic ill, because some how we think there might be a chance. Watch a loved one waste/fade away over months/years and you might change your tune. I have watched 2, thankfully I did not have to watch my Grandmother (dads mom). I did have to watch my other grandmother (mom's mom) and it is not pretty with absolutely no dignity at all. I made peace with everything I know and love ceasing to exist at some point.

^I'm all for it. dnr comfort measures only.

What im failing to grasp is the point of this legislation. A person there (OR) can undergo a month long psych eval, sign the form, and end it legally. So why bother taking guns from those folks.

...And you know they won't ever file charges on anyone for a false claims in this law. One year and up to $6250.00 in fines? That's classic appeasement legislation so the shitheads have a back door to get out of for pushing this anti-gun agenda.

So does this mean they'll be banning ropes, razor blades, and high areas as a means to lower the suicide rates as well?

The penality say "up to" so a judge can impose a lower number. That's a bunch of bullshit.

So now any ex with an axe to grind (oops, those will probably get banned too now) can fill out some paperwork against someone and guns and ammunition go away. Who's going to store those guns and for how long?

If anyone comes for my guns, they better expect an appropriate response.

Expansion on existing theme: PRE Crime

FYI - this happened in 2010 - ODOT worker has a personal beef at work with his supervisors, his SEIU colleagues spin it up, he is placed under watch, then siege, his guns are confiscated, he is taken into custody and he escorted directly to the mental unit of the local hospital. Only to be released 3 hours later - just long enough for LE to search his house and take his shit.

Take a long look at the flimsy reasoning for this - his union buddies claimed he was mentally slipping - disheveled and his personal hygiene standards had fallen. WTF? ODOT workers are also qualified mental health experts? Who knew?

Pyles was like you and me - not wealthy, not savvy, likely not the best communicator. What should have been a work place grievance, with a process for resolution associated with it; was instead corrupted by one hand of the 'State' in using another hand of the 'State' to treat him like a criminal. In the end - 3 yrs later a Fed Judge throws Pyles case out b/c "there was probably a reason" for the peace officer hold. Translation - you didn't hire a $$$ attorney and the case submitted to the court was weak.

In review a work place personal beef is spun into something that costs a man everything - loss of reputation / job - the whole 9. I guess his ODOT work buds showed him who is boss in the end - might makes right and all.....
