I recently started playing a bit with NFC tags and my IPhone to keep track of load data.

I load for multiple barrels on competition and hunting rifles and it can get a little frustrating keeping track of things.

Picked up a 25 pack of NFC tags from Amazon for like $15 and in a couple minutes had the automation complete. It works pretty damn slick, scan the tag and it instantly brings up my load data from Notes.

I'm trying to figure out how that's better than just a good notebook and decent notes ... or an Excel Spreadsheet which is what I use to keep track of my reference loads. Isn't that little tag just one more thing to lose? Not knocking it if it works for you ... and I'm totally a gadget guy ... but struggling to decide how the tag is better in a world where I would lose my own ass if it wasn't permanently glued to my torso.

They are double side taped to the side of the workbench so they should not grow legs. As far as a notebook or pc It’s no different. Just a lot quicker and therefore more convenient.

I’ll put it this way. When you pay for something at the store do you write a check then go home and balance the checkbook, pay cash, use the chip on a card, tap with the card, or just put your phone near the keypad?

They all work the same in the end, some are just easier.

funny as it is I am using 3x5 index cards and a rolodex to keep my reloading data in any sort of order . If i was more tech minded I might use the pc but I don't mind it only takes a couple of seconds to flip through to find what I am looking for almost every round I reload for I also laminated my final cards on powders so it will last longer . I also use them at the range and a copy in a notebook the notebook is far messier than the cards .
