So following on previous post concerning my intended new footware I am happy to advise army coughed up and paid the entire bill of 7050 euro for 5 pairs of specialist orthiotic shoes for me. I was expecting more of an argument to be honest. Its been a bit of a nervous wait as I had to arrange to have a report sent to the army MO about the request.
But I figured I may as well try and get as much as I could in terms of footware and tagged on an extra pair of gym shoes to allow me get back to training. I've put on a bit of weight and don't feel good about it. The specialist was quite surprised at the xray I sent him. The medial aspect of my foot is gone, the cuboid bones are gone and the 1st and 2nd MT bones are fused together. Thats on my right foot. I also had surgery to my left foot. On that the 1st and 4th MT are also fused and the cuboid is also gone on that foot. My left ankle is also pinned by 4 bars he said I'd qualify easily for 80% disability on that alone. But in the left knee it's bone on bone meaning I'm putting the majority of my weight on my right hip. It appears I'm walking on my heel and the outside of my foot which causes my hamstring to contract quite badly.
So I got the following :
1: dress shoes for a suit
2: pair of everyday boots to walk to work if I want
3: Pair of casual boots to wear out socialising
4: General pair of walking type / sneaker shoe
5: Pair of gym shoes..
The next steps are that they give me a trial pair to test for comfort etc and then make up the actual shoes once they fine tune the measurements.
Have any of you guy worn these. I've seen the styles this guy can do and they are pretty nice. Just like a pair of off the shelf shoes and boots.
