We haven't had a man on the moon since the original missions (or made solid steps towards Mars), we can't (with the incredible amount of resources our country has, combined with the insane amount of astonishingly intelligent people these days) come up with consistent, accurate micro-sized .45's, and we can't accomplish theoretically simple border control system.

What happened to us? It's not that we can't, I'd go so far as to say that we could petition a group of 7th graders and they could come up with a feasible border control system. We just aren't anymore. What gave us this lack of drive? Are we too comfortable being the world's greatest power? Every time I turn on the Discovery Channel, TLC, or BBC, we have some new, impending doom. Forty years ago, we had no boundary unreachable. We were certain to conquer space, the oceans, and everything else within a mere matter of years. Now we can't even get my wireless internet or satellite TV to work reliably. What gives?

Getting off this planet and having small arms breakthroughs will not keep the super rich in power. Money is the worst thing that ever happened to our species.

Having spent countless hours with the man responsible for the designing and hand building the smallest .45acp automatic extant (Semmerling XLM at less than 1" thick, 3.7" long, 5 shot) I can answer that one for you.

His exact words

"It was as I had told them it would be, terribly uncomfortable to fire. Unpleasant really."

Then why did they want it?

"My simply telling them wasn't enough. I can assure you, I made him finish the clip."

P.S. By comparison the Kahr was a pig...

Now, what were you saying about the moon? If you are judgeing our countries technological prowess by our ability to build a small smokeless powder tube, well, I recommend this to you.

I wonder if it was as unpleasant to shoot as hot .357s out of a 12oz S&W 340 PD? I won't be doing that again. Not a fun gun to shoot.

Re: Our technology isn't progressing or what?

Owning a Kahr PM40, which is a little mule (though not even close to a Scandium .357 in felt recoil), there is no way a PM45 could be viewed as abusive to shoot IMO. My 3" Spinger micro is purely pleasant to shoot.

Being of average build, having the options of carrying these calibers comfortably does count for something.

Borders are hard to secure because people (some not all) are corruptable. You can have the most advanced border security in the world, but if one the security guards drops the motion sensors 1min before a band of maraduers comes marching in...then what good is it? Read the use of spies and traitors in The Art of War over and over again.
Like it says in Machiavelli if a prince is in need of fortresses then he often rules through villainy. The People will not rebel because of fear of punishment but often they will not fight with valor because his cause is not their own. While the Prince who is loved will be feared because his loss is the People's loss.

Micro .45acp means less weight from the slide to absorb recoil wich often means stronger spring tension. Then there is the problem of timeing. What does going to the moon and and border security have to do with side arms? Unless of course your planning on useing that micro to fight the invading hord, or finding the effect of ballistics in space

The cell phone in my pocket, makes calls, texts, emails, checks the web, takes pictures and video. It has more processing power and memory than my desktop computer from a decade ago. It has more processing speed and memory than the rocket that landed on the moon. You're right, we have lost our technology.

BTW, if we secure the border who will pick our strawberries, who will do custom paint on lowriders, who will do the lawn services?

So you mean making a sword out of L6 Tool steel isn't an improvement over the orginal tamahagane? And don't you say these things are outdated weapons either. A drunkerd was killed several years ago when he forced his way into somebodies house. He was disembowelled dragging his entrails for half a block.

Officers in the Corps should especially consider this weapon since Marine Officers may be required to carry swords still. At least thats what I was told by an Officer.

Also if you send me to Mexico then I won't be able to tattoo your girl the way you want.

Re: Our technology isn't progressing or what?

If technology is what your after and a micro 45 cannot be produced, why are firearms still using technology and propellants developed in the late 1800s and early 20th century still used?

Re: Our technology isn't progressing or what?

If you think .357 mag loads out of the 340PD are bad, shoot some hot 340gr .44 mag loads out of the 329PD. I've seen guys literally blister and rupture skin out of their hands in less than 6 rounds because the recoil impulse is so sharp and the hogue grips so sticky. It's "better" with the wood grips as they allow for some slip.

The recoil impulse on that gun is so bad, that if you don't find ammo that's well crimped the bullets will unseat themselves under recoil. I've seen the 6th round unseat itself far enough forward that it obstructed cylinder rotation.

Cut off the welfare checks and that problem will get solved.
