Suppressors perhaps i have been thinking incorrectly on 22lr supressor

i have a tbac 22 takedown and a specwar 223 and 30. cal 6.5 cal thunderbeast suppressors,,,,, i use the 22 takedown on my little browning buckmaster pistol but i had been using the specwar 223 on my 22lr rifle thinking that the extra size would absorb more noise,,,,,, but would a dedicated rimfire suppressor work better than the centerfire specwar?

Shit, I form 1’d a 22 suppressor and it’s dedicated to my bolt action 22, and super, super quiet.

Total cost including making, marking and stamp under $300.

If that Specwar can isn't user serviceable, I would not shoot rimfire out of it. Rimfire ammo is far too dirty to just have build up in a sealed suppressor. That is a big reason you can dig the guts out of a rimfire can, to clean the lead, lube and powder out every few hundred rounds.

Besides, quality rimfire dedicated cans like the TBAC TD and the DA Mask have a lot of engineering and thought behind them. If extra size worked better, they probably would have gone that route.

I've got a form 1 cheap 22lr I love. First time I cleaned it was north of 1k but south of 1,600 only way to gauge volume is the 800 bulk boxes of Federal I shoot. Dropped baffles into jar of CLR and 30 minutes later like new. Did a coating of dielectric grease thick this time will go another 1,000 at least. I'd highly rec a form 1 for ease of cleaning, but I'll never do it less than 1k having gone 'oops' and forgotten first time around. My rimfire actually got me down the path of cleaning my Q which I waited to do until it had over 15,000 rounds: a mistake I will never make again that took 35 days to get clean with a myriad of techniques. can't recall exact weight when I started, but want to say it was about 26 ounces? Factory is 14.75 oz. and i was able to get it down to 15 1/4. Buddy has a fancy new industrial ultrasonic i may try to see if i can actually get to factory weight. On my sealed can I will clean every time I crack open a new bulk 500 box of pills.

A dedicated rimfire can would almost certainly be quieter than a .223 can on a .22LR, but rifles with subs are already quiet and so you may not notice a huge difference (other than first round pop, which is probably kinda bad on that big centerfire can).

Obviously, you can easily test this theory by pulling the TBAC Takedown off your pistol and temporarily swapping it to the rifle, but if what you're really looking for is encouragement to buy another rimfire can, I'll be happy to endorse this concept

I've really been digging the Oculus22 lately - the modularity is kinda cool (run it in the "long" config for range sessions, and "short" for wandering around the property), and it's all stainless so no worries while cleaning. But if you bought another TBAC Takedown or a Dead Air Mask then you're also making a sound purchase. Err, no pun intended.

Dedicated rimfire can would be significantly better.

Don't shoot 22lr in a can that's not user serviceable.

I've shot a lot of .22 through TBAC center fire cans, both 5" and 9". I have a TBAC takedown and another cheapo .22 can. Both are quieter than the full size cans. I asked TB about it once, and Zack came back with the answer "because engineering". Obviously I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist of it. I still shoot .22 through the big cans sometimes when I need more than 2 suppressed .22's. They seem to clean up OK using CLR in the ultrasonic, but I try to limit it. I just cleaned my two .22 cans last week. Apparently, it had been a while. Both were gunked up so bad I had to soak them in CLR to even get them apart. Lesson learned.

I have that Oculus, and I agree on its awesomeness. I use it in its short config on my Kidd 10/22. 16” ultralight barrel. I shoot CCI subsonic segmented (barely subsonic, like 1050fps). Man, it is so quiet and handy. One of my favorite guns.
