Thinking about getting a Phantom QD 7.62 for my .308 and also possibly getting the QD mount for my R-15, .223 and having them both threaded for them. And I also have plans for a .243 WSSM AR with in this year.

I've never owned a suppressor and from my readings it looks like this should all work ok.

Someone with some experience give me your thoughts.

Simply put, the Phantom will work great on multiple calibers, you will have no problems with this can for what you want to use it for. Is it the best, no, is it worth the money, yes.

YHM cans are generally pretty heavy and are not in the quieter category.

Do some shopping before you buy.

Quite a few cans out there that will work for your application.

A Liberty Freedom Ultra 300 WIN rated can, for sale in the group buys here on the Hide will work on all the YHM mounts so with this one very quiet can, you can run it on anything from 300 WIN MAG to 22 Hornet. $900 on the group buy and it's one of the quietest 30 cal cans out there, dB wise, and it's all Ti and Stainless Steel.

Wish I had seen that liberty can before I bought my phantom. Thats one nice lookin can. However im verry satisfied with my phantom. Mounts are cheap and itll go on every rifle I have. Yea its heavy but I shoot from a bench and dont carry it thru the woods, so whats the use in having a feather weight can.

I've got the threaded phantom, I've got four rifles threaded to match. And I love it, I shoot it on my 300wsm, my .308, my Ar-15, and my .223 bolt gun. It works great on all of them, I dont have the QD advantage, but I dont mind at all.

Ok Thanks, Thats some things I didn't know like what other cans out there have QD mounts that come in 1/2" and 5/8" and use the same can or that will work with the YHM QD's

Yes a lighter can would be nice as I do hunt with mine and if I were putting it on my little lite R-15 the lighter the better.

AAC 762SD is a lot lighter than a QD Phantom and offers mounts for lots of different threads. I have a .30 Phantom QD and the only down side is the weight.

Heavy yes, any non-titanium can will be heavy. Ti can's are also very much more expensive than the phantom, and many will not work on the magnum's.

You'll be in the minority if you consider yhm can's to not be quiet.

How many suppressors do you own?

I have a thread-on YHM Phantom in 308 and really like it. While I have several other cans (Gemtech, AAC, TI, etc) I don't have any others in .308 to compare it to. I've used it on my Remington 700 as well as a DPMS LR-308 and I really like it. Yes, it's quite a bit heavier than my other suppressors, but it's a range toy for me. Since a suppressor is essentially a forever-purchase, the robustness of this can appeals to me.

has anyone heard about the barrel length affecting the warranty on the YHM cans? the 762 phantom is what i am looking at buying too. i hadnt heard this barrel length deal before and i see nothing on the site. ill have an 18" and 24" in 308 and 16" in 223

I shoot an AAC Scar H on my bolt gun, and before that on my AR. In my opinion my AAC compared to other .30cal cans is quieter. If I was going to buy a can and the manufacturer told me I would void the warranty if I put it on too short a barrel, I dont think I would buy it. I know some can take a magnum round and some cannot. I would take that into consideration before the barrel length.

Id say its only for the SBR's. They eat up the blast baffles.

Running my 762 Phantom QD on an 18.5" 308 by APA. I also had my 223AI threaded 5/8x24 but haven't gotten around to trying it with the Phantom.
As for quiet, it is very. More so than my Gemtech mounted on a AR15.

If you want a lighter weight version YHM is coming out with an all TI version of the 556 and 762 Phantoms. Check with Major Malfunction for more. The prices I heard were very reasonable.

Yes sir, the YHM SS/QD cans are not the lightest .308 can out there, but before anyone completely "throws them under the bus" you need to consider what you get for the weight. The YHM ".308" can is actually rated for any .30 cal pill out there - it does not matter how much pressure is behind it (this includes all of the magnum .30 calibers: 300WinMag, 300WbyMag, 300RUM, even Wetherby's insane 30-378 Mag). So in all fairness, although the can is genuinely heavy, "overbuilt" is probably a better word.

Sound reduction wise, the YHM Phantom 7.62 puts down some VERY respectable numbers!

Well, I guess this is my cue to mention that we'll beat any competitor's price. Shop around to get the best price you can and then call me and I'll beat it.

I've got the largest inventory in the nation and experience with suppressors from just about every manufacturer out there (so I can help you make an informed purchase decision). We do full sound testing of all of our cans and shoot our demos regularly as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I actually just called a local place I have never talked too before and he happend to have one sitting there in stock and with a good price. Mid County Gun Shop in Preston, MD

So needless to say I went and paid for it last night and will have the papers in the mail tomorrow without the extra transfer wait time.

Anybody have some good suggestions for a heat cover for it?

doesn't ti get brittle to various degrees when exposed to hi temp...depending on the grade of the TI used (there are 10 of them I think?)

Ti does not stand up to sustained high temp abuse as well as steel, but it's not weak by any means (just not the best choice for a full-suto platform, where it will get hammered).
