Any recommendations for a pocket pistol that will reliably shoot .22lr shorts? I'm assuming semi's are out.

What I have on my list so far is S&W 43c, and the Taurus 942.

Anything else I should consider?

S&W 351C Airweight is great. Mine is in .22 WMRF, but will Fire S/L/LR all day long, and eject them as well. Lots of mice have fallen to it, using .22LR Shotshells. The only problem with shooting shorts is accuracy. Shorts need a much different twist rate than do Magnums or Long Rifle, due to bullet weight and velocity differences. The 351C has no external hammer, floats like a butterfly and stings bad enough I wouldn’t bet on anyone who was headshot with it. It holds 7 rounds and weighs 11.5 ounces. DAO, it is headshot accurate to 25+ yards.

I really like that NAA, seems like a solid option
ive got a few of them....they are actually really well made little guns....

personally i would buy one of the .22lr chambered options so you have more flexibility.

im not sure what your intended purpose is.....but just know that a .22 short out of a tiny barrel is going to be about as powerful as a pellet gun......so i wouldnt carry it with defensive purposes in mind.......fun little parlor gun, good for rodents.....will struggle to penetrate a human to any meaningful depth.

It's not for humans, I have other pistols that serve that purpose if need be.

I live just outside of city limits, but it's still fairly "urban" - just more spread out. I live over a desert wash, and have 3 dogs that the wife and I walk in the wash and through the surrounding neighborhood.

The coyotes are getting very brazen. I was stalked by a small pack of coyotes a couple of weeks ago in the wash with my dogs, and many in my neighborhood have commented on the behavior of the coyotes as of late. I was reduced to throwing rocks at the coyotes to get them to back off.

If it was up to me and it was legal, I would be taking a few coyotes out with one of my rifles to let them know where they sit at in the food chain. Legally I can't do that.

What I'm looking for is something to keep in my pocket, to "dissuade" them if it really comes down to it. My preference for .22lr shorts is out of a necessity to not alert the whole block.

I'm exploring this option, it may or may not be the best option or one I proverbially pull the trigger on, put an option none the less.
