Places to shoot, north of Phoenix AZ

Not sure the right sub-forum for this (site seems to be lacking a “places to shoot” sub). Anyway, I’m relocating down to Arizona, specifically the Verde Valley about an hour north of Phoenix. Are there any ranges in the area to shoot LR and ELR or does everyone just find a spot in the desert and set up their own targets?

Any tips/advice for shooting in the area would be appreciated. Thanks.

Head south on I17 toward Cordes Junction. Turn east on Dugas Rd. Lots of wide open spaces out there for ELR. The farther you get away from the freeway, the more alone you will be.

Well while people are sharing spots, anyone know of some good spots within say 1hr to 1-1/2hr of Phoenix? I live in Gilbert, usually go to Sugar Loaf/Sycamore creek off the 87 but that only gets me to 500 and I have to hike out the steel. No real flat areas to walk a rifle out in say 100-200yd increments.

For the one who mentioned Prescott Valley, there are a couple spots in Paulden to shoot. One of my spots is 1200, the other I found is 1500 at least but I haven't shot there yet. Send me a PM and we can shoot sometime.

There's places in Ash fork if you're willing to risk Deliverance

1000 at Ben Avery. Just check their calendar. Wednesday and Thursday mornings and most weekends. Of course that varies through the year.

I’ve been to Ben Avery, that will likely be my home range for clays, at least when summer isn’t in full swing. Anyone in the area shot out at Cowtown? Sounds interesting but I don’t know how well the reservation system works.

There is an easy access spot right off of hyw 169 i go. 900y range. A few other places I've been spoting to find a decent place to leave some cheap steel out at.
