Listen up. This is the best PST yet. Hands down. Scary good optics and execution. FFP, side focus, MIL or MOA, illumination.

This scope just works. I was told it's not just the show scopes, but all 30 or 40 pre-production samples were all the same. That's awesome news. This scope is RIGHT.

Look, I'm a small outfit, but I'm ordering 50 of just this model, to start. It's that good.

Dear Vortex, please make this scope as we've seen it. Lather, rinse, repeat. We will all shoot happily ever after.

Damnit, Scott!! Why do you always report from SHOT in such as way as to cost me MONEY?!

Joking aside...I was looking forward to your usual detailed reviews/reports from SHOT which I assume will include the PST 2.5-10x32 FFP/SF. While we're in this thread though...did you get any info firming up projected availability (aside from "Spring 2013") or MSRP/MAP (I've seen both $899 and $799 tossed around)?

Either way, if you do a pre-order on these, I'm likely in for at least one and possibly two depending on when they are scheduled to become available.

This could cost me some money....where was it two weeks ago when I ordered the 2.5-10x44 PST. Might have to get one of these for the AR and move the other to my 308. We shall see....

Oh boy! I was set on a mark 4 2.5-8 until now. Never owned a Vortex, guess I might try and give them a shot. It's got every feature I could ask for in a compact scope.

i'm looking forward to this comparison,very much so since i've been holding off. just remember that the weaver is 2-10x36 not 2.5x. the weaver has a 5x erector and this vortex a 4x erector,which means the weaver has more lenses and in combination with the larger objective bell gives it's weight of 23.49 oz(i got this weight info from someone here that works at weaver) and if the vortex info is correct,it weighs 18.7 oz.

they seem to each have certain advantages,at least on paper so far. the weaver on glass(judging from reviews on other models from both companies out there so far),FOV,lower mag,price and possibly robustness(purely speculative,no data/test). this vortex on weight(if true),a few extra features(FO bar with mag indicator facing you,CRS) and iirc,the warranty is transferable.

there's more too,for both. i'm not sure which will have a better reticle for me,for example. one thing i notice is that the weaver(tactical) comes from the top-of-the-line in their selections of all scopes.

definately a good match up. some others mentioned here are a different price range altogether.

I agree, but I'd love to see how this fares with other great scopes.

it definately needs to be compared to the PST 2.5-10x44 although that's SFP.

by the way,what is happening to the PST 1-4x24 FFP. why aren't these more popular by now. no one here seems to be paying attention to this.

"Value" is non-linear. It may not be worth it for you but for many, myself included, who would like a compact scope for their AR or just a compact scope in general, it's a great deal. Moreover, in addition to the more compact size, Scott also said the optical quality has been improved.

To me if it's at least almost as good as a Nightforce compact, for 40% less, that makes it a compelling proposition. If you look at the scopes you would likely cross-shop against (NF compact, Weaver Tactical 2-10x36, Leupold Mark 4 MR/T 2.5-8x36), I think it's more than fairly priced for what you get.

I have looked at a few different 2.5-10x44 PSTs and I do not think I will be looking at them again. While the current versions are better than the original two scopes I used for the "Mid-range..." article, they are still not very much to my liking.

The new 2.5-10x32 is a different ballgame and I was very impressed with how well executed that scope is. It has nothing in common withthe 2.5-20x44 and I see no need to compare them to each other. The optical system is new and more sophisticated. The reticle is in FFP. Side-focus helps. The objective lens system is very different and very well thought out (it seems).

Bottom line, the most interesting comparison for it would be side by side with the 2-10x36 Weaver.

Just to throw this out there. The 2.5-10 FFP has a MAP of $799 while the 2.5-10 SFP has a MAP of $599. This is a $200 difference that is consistent throughout the PST line when going from SFP to FFP.

$200 to go from SFP to FFP and from fixed parallax to side focus is a bargain really. And that doesn't include any other less obvious improvements they may have made.

How close can you focus? One thing I don't like about my current PST is that the focus range only goes down to 50 yards IIRC.

Fixed parallax at 100yds on the 2.5-10x44 PST. I don't recall the specifics of the other PST off hand, but I think you are correct with respect to the higher mag PSTs that they offer focus for 50yd-infinity.

The new 2.5-10x32 PST is listed as focusing from 35yds-infinity. Again...one of the addt'l big bonus features of this new offering in comparison to the SFP/fixed parallax model.

I love my 2.5-10x44 MRAD PST. I actually like it better than my 5-15x44 HS Tactical. I like the FOV of the x44 PST on 10x a lot, as well as the image quality, click feel, and features.

If the 2.5-10x32 is that much better, it's going to be a great scope. The main things I felt were missing from the 2.5-10x44 have been added to the 2.5-10x32, which I handled last week at SHOT as well. I wonder how this compares to the Nightforce 2.5-10, as that was a scope I was looking at before I bought my Vortex 1-6x. If this is a good scope I might consider getting one to put in another Spuhr mount for when I start hand loading in the future. $800 MAP sounds like a killer price to me. BTW Liberty Optics is GTG!

This looks like a great scope for a mid-weight, decidedly non-tactical 7mm WSM build that is currently coming together in my workshop. The size, weight, feature set, and price are going to make this an excellent option for a lot of SPRs, hunting rifles, and rimfire trainers.
