Hello all,

First post here although I have been reading and learning for some time. I have finally decided to purchase a suppressor. I have seen this Po' Boy $199.00 rig for 5.56 and am considering it. I have tried the search function but did not find any info. Are any of you using this model? I am surprised at the price and am tempted to try it based on the price and the fact it seems well built. It is a little heavier than the Specwar, and others, but less than half the cost. Can someone make a good unit for this price point? Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi,

The baffles are washers from a hardware store with cut tubing as spacers.

Well, looks like an economical build? If it will suppress OK and not fall apart I would be good with it as my first venture into suppressed weapons.

If your on a tight budget save up the extra $200-$300 and get something from a reputable company that'll actually work and last. NFA items are somewhat of lifetime purchase. Not the time to cheap out.

Yankee hill machine makes a great suppressor for the money spent. You can find a YHM 30 cal qd can for under $300 if you look hard enough... Not only that but they ship with a mount! They may not be the lightest or quietest, but they do work and are built like tanks.

Piece of shit can.

Don't waste a $200 tax stamp on a piece of shit. You'll hate yourself down the road. It would end up as $400 you wasted, when you buy the can to replace it, that you should have just bought the first time around. Save up the buy.

Good advice here - wish I'd have asked more questions before investing $1100+ & waiting for over a year (SOT screw-up IIRC) to get the stamp for that POS can. It was durable & fairly quiet, but the POI shift every single time I removed & replaced it made it practically worthless to me. Only managed to get out from underneath it by chance, when I ran into another SOT who wanted the correct can for his SCAR 17. The guys here are making very valid points - do some research, shop around for the make & model you want, plop your money down, and in the end, you'll be far better off & a lot happier.

I don't know shit about suppressors but know some about machining, fabrication, and welding.

Seems to me you would be better off with an oil filter on the end of your gun.

Don't waste your hard earned money on that!!

I would also recommend a Yankee Hill. But I would also recommend that you save a bit more and get a .30 cal. suppressor. That way you will have a can that can be used across a wider range of calibers. You will be glad you did!

The YHM Nitro is a great can too.

I have to ask, how did you sink $1,100 into a $200 can filled with fender washers?

Should've been more specific, but was trying to avoid heaping any more crap on AAC's plate - it was a SCAR-h, not the one the OP was asking about. Just used it as an example of what can happen when you don't do your research before buying a can...
