Re: POF Rifles

1) Yes they do. Most of them are smaller agencies but, yes, they have been used by Law Enforcement.

2) Many of the parts in GAP's GAP-10 are common with what POF is selling given that they are (or were) sourced from the same place: Hogan Manufacturing. I mention this not to bring down GAP but to indicate that there are some parts in the POF guns which are good enough that other top tier vendors are interested in selling them to their customers at some level.

Which gets us to 3:
3) POF has been sued by Hogan for non-payment on an order. Its a long sordid story and one could argue there is fault to be had on both sides. Hogan is doing some unsavory things around POF's intellectual property (for example, POF argues they are selling some of the patented designs of POF as Hogan's own doing to GAP and direct-to-customer). POF has filed counter claims in the lawsuit.

Some of those counter claims have been dismissed. This is very normal with legal cases. You file everything you THINK you might have, and then the judge decides later that only some of them are really able to be substantiated.

That JUST happened in the legal case.

As far as I know, both are continuing commercial concerns and I have not seen much to the contrary.

Re: POF Rifles

During the TPRC match I had a chance to meet and talk with the owner of POF. I was left with a very good impression. With the situation brought up by Oddball time will tell and it will be sorted out in the courts. If POF caught your attention because of the product they offer I wouldn't let it discourage you. I don't have any personal experience with their rifles but I have always heard positive feedback. The best thing to do would be take Hamstur's advice and contact them directly and go from there.

Re: POF Rifles

No, POF is not going out of business and I will be glad when the rumors are put to rest and Hogan is sued to fuckin hell and back for patent infringement.

For further info, refer to the POF Facebook page as they have addressed the rumor.

If there was any hard evidence that POF was going out of business, I would've sold this a long time ago.

Killshot,

I used to have their facebook page liked. Did they change the page?

Can you send a link because I can't seem to find it now?

Found it. My fault.

Re: POF Rifles

Kill, how do you like that brake compared to others or what your gun came with? That's the one I have been eyeballing.

Which POF version did yours come with?

Mine came with this one

and it is the only one I have shot with it so I have nothing to compare it to.

Re: POF Rifles

Why would you have sold if they went out of business? parts?

Re: POF Rifles

In my opinion, the POF is the simplest piston design on the market because it uses no return springs or seals. It is comprised of (2) parts which can easily be machined at any machine shop that has a lathe. If POF ever does go under, I'll make my own parts or pay to have it done for me.

My POF came with the same triple port brake that yours has. The Primary Weapons PRC (precision rifle compensator) that you see in the photo is leaps and bounds better than the standard POF brake. It greatly reduces the recoil which makes it easier for maintaining POA and seeing POI. It also has zero ground signature because it directs the blast upward, unlike the vast majority of brakes on the market, so you're not spraying shit all over the shooters to the right or left of the muzzle blast.

Phoenix Police switched to POF rifles a few years ago when they couldnt get new Colt Commandos from Colt. Ive talked to some of our SWAT (called SAU here) guys and they said the POFs have been performing well. Some say they prefer the lighter Commandos though.

Re: POF Rifles

The upper design that POF uses definitely has a little bit of additional weight. For guys like that who often have to hold their firearms for several hours on a barricaded shooter type call-out before putting them to use, I think the weight is a more significant issue than it would be to the average guy on here.

Something to keep in mind as C-grunt notes.

If weight is a concern, you might want to talk to Specialized Dynamics about their LW-Hunter model, and noveske also has a Rogue Hunter variation on their usual 16" platform.
