For Keatrel to add a more expensive module they must first know there is a demand. That's what I wanted to start this poll. If there are enough people wanting it I will interact with Kestrel on your guys behalf and push for this upgrade and if not I will keep plugging in the data along with everyone else. </div></div>
At a high level correct, but not really. The issue is that Apple is concerned about security implications regarding bluetooth-over-serial connections. Therefore, Apple has chosen to leave out that part of the bluetooth stack. The Kestel device makes bluetooth-over-serial calls to either iphone or android device. Confirmed on jail-broken Iphone with 2 different complete bluetooth stacks. Sadly it boils down to Apple deciding "We don't need that functionality" ... I decided to try to go android (40.00) was worth the experiment.
To be honest, it connected and transmitted data, however it was pretty inconsistent. I also found the Iphone MUCH easier to read/magnify in bright sun.
My 27 cents.
