I would think this has been going on for decades now when corruption set in. I whole heartily believe that Trump open everyones eye about fake news which lead to everything else being exposed. It did some damage but The People are to passive in todays world and the Constitution is to old and more of an artifact . The Founding Fathers predicted the corruption of government but they didn't foresee the apathy of The People that would follow as a side effect of the corruption.
