I know somebody who absolutely favors shotguns over pretty much anything else. He is kind of a Fudd, but not the "ARs are weapons of war and civvies should not have them" kind of Fudd, which was why I gave him some advice about a "shotgun only" kit. Have TWO shotguns. Two Remington or Mossberg pumps. Absolutely budget. One loaded with buckshot cartridges. The other with big game slugs. The one with the slugs will have a scope or a midrange rifle/slug sight on it. The other with a regular shotgun RDS. Two bandoliers or pouches, one for each. Seriously that is a kit I would NOT feel underarmed or outgunned with at all in ANY situation that a civilian and outdoorsman even in the most dangerous or remote areas would face.

This is one of the better examples on film. A russian movie. There are several other YT videos out there that are "real"...as in really real tests of what grapeshot can do. It is really not quite buckshot. More like about 200 .58 musket balls give or take depending on the weapon, zipping along. The other videos go into just how horrid it was. One out there that I could not find, used GPS and ground radar to see the fall of the shot past the target. Really a long bed sheet that was stood up so they could see the pattern.
