Getting a new Commander ;)

Oh, BTW.......does the name "Cdr Yvonne Gray" ring any bells ?

Just a little something to help everyone's memory along.......

You know, by and large, I'm teasing. I like Kiwis and pretty much everyone from the Commonwealth Countries. So, don't take it personally.
Back at ya - all the Yanks I've met have been good folks. All except for that Kalashnikev guy.

He's just a cunt.

scratched but still with positive bouyancy.

did they fire the "unmanned" Gold Star Captain that let y'all's ship take a nap in the ocean?
I do believe that being on top of the water is quite a big deal with ships - Mz. Gray must have slept through that lecture.

She is still employed, while the enquiry wanders to a conclusion. Preliminary finding is human error though, and as she had command for two years it's going to be a hard sell to come up with anything other than "it's the boss's fault".

IRS cooze:
"This is just absolutely incredible that one man has this power to do this."

Lololololol. Suck it. After Lois Lerner, the ATF looks positively legit compared to the IRS. Ok, tied for shitty. You get my point.

interesting...
The ships will be hanging around ready for the international war games Talisman Sabre coming up soon. The Chinese traditionally park several spy ships just outside the Australian waters recording every radio and radar/sonar transmission.
They have also sent several "survey ships" to map all the oceans off Western Australia where Fleet Base West and our submarine fleet is stationed mapping the sea floor where the sub go and play.

I agree that parents should foot the bill for food, but there are a lot of broke parents who can’t, and they can’t just not send their kids to school.

The money will be taken from you, regardless of how you feel. I wish that wasn’t the case and that taxes were lowered accordingly for those without children.

I’d rather tax money go to feed kids a healthy meal so that they can focus on their education. I do not want the money to go to administrators, sportsball, electric school buses, or DEI/gay/gender ideology.

Hopefully Trump’s changes will lead to much better education, which will lead to a more educated society. A win for all. If quality change does happen then I would happily fund free school lunch for the local elementary and middle schools. The funny part there is that nobody will get lowered taxes, lol.
I think we are finding out that with proper oversight that might not be the case. I don't care if kids get fed at all. I don't think taxes should be for that at all. If we are in the spirit of trimming, then this can be one of the things

I believe kids should be fed if they’re forced to be there for 8 hours. Ideally their parents would send them with a lunch or lunch money, but there are a lot of broke parents that can’t afford the $80 per month for 1 kid for school breakfast and lunch.

I believe the taxes collected for public schools would be better spent on feeding the kids so they can focus on their education.

Funny thing is if I did fund free lunch for elementary-middle school students, it would cost roughly 1.2-1.7 million dollhairs under current food standards, and it wouldn’t lower anyone’s taxes a penny. You’d just see a new sportsball stadium or brand new sportsball equipment. Trades, ELA, math, science, and arts would still be bottom tier on funding.

Our education system’s priorities are a damn dumpster fire.

Aint that the truth... The fkn sportsball crap is completely crazy. Schools in my AO are adding astroturff (wtf its called) instead of just ya know dirt and grass. Its full retard on sports ball, hell at least 1 ISD here has a damn charter buss for hauling them around.

They tried to build an indoor training facility here. Just for football. The citizens voted it down but hey were hitting every parents cell phone every day pushing them to vote for it. Pissed a lot off AND reminded them to vote no. The town split between the 20% that wanted it and the other 80% that were sick of ever increasing school and property taxes. The level of emotional distress was crazy for those that lost. Two weeks after the superintendent resigned. Facebook was not kind. People are tired of being used as an ATM for stupid projects that serve no real purpose.

You aren’t wrong on the fixation with athletics. Friday night lights is no joke. My county sits at a 22% poverty rate roughly. The football stadium has new artificial turf, and there is a $5 million indoor practice facility with 50 yards of a field that also has artificial turf. Every kid in the school system gets free breakfast and lunch. There are a few kids each year that get free rides to college for sports, but no substantial number. I will say that the school has invested pretty heavily into the trades. This is probably because they know many of the kids will not go to college. There are tracks through high school that focus on welding certifications, automotive repair, construction and carpentry, and some other useful skills. Those kids are walking out of the school and straight to jobs.

It sounds like your school district is doing things pretty smartly.

No pizza party today at the shop but our afternoon returning trucks brought donuts. And I picked up some Wendy's Frosties on my way back. Let me KASH somebody saying that "it's too cold for Frosties"...

I don’t know...you wouldn't KASH me ahhhside on a day like today.

Money will be taken from us no matter what was the statement I was referring to. I agree it is that way, but it may be changing and certainly doesn't have to be that way. I do think we could have lunches provided, but the diet is something we could argue over forever.

I think the whole school situation needs the same thing done to it as the rest of government - torn apart and reassembled piece by piece with justifications for everything that stays. I don't even think government should be in the school business. Families can create pods, hire a teacher, split the bill. That, or teach them yourselves. Everyone has access to information now.

What happened to the days of a school bus with no A/C in it; travelling around in 90+ deg temps to your track meet, Football, baseball, tennis, event?

As a general rule, it's not just schools where sports have gone wild. Sports is too big of deal period!!!! Designed to keep people from pulling the curtain back and see what's going on in life. The fact communities are trying build facilities for municipal use to compete with pro teams, and college teams trying to compete with pro-facilities is a complete sham. That money needs to be spent on education, fixing roads, improving failing infrastructure.

If a billionaire wants a sports stadium that's nicer than the current facility....by all means...feel free to build it with privately raised funds!!!!!

My AO built a new ampitheater...because a bunch of wussies didn't want to drive 100 miles to see their band. FFS...I flew across the entire country for concerts...and these people demanded an ampitheater be built...wtf. Meanwhile....2 lane roads with no shoulders where a 7 lane wide (3+3+turn) is needed. Need to get to the hospital? Good luck...complete cluster F. Then, when they had the opportunity to build a 3+3...they built a 2+2 with ZERO room to grow as they basically made a tunnel for the road to go through the cross road...STUPID as heck. And lastly...during the PlannedDemic, they put up high-pressure sodium street lamps to take them down 6 months later and put LEDs in....good use of my freakin' tax dollars.

Oh, and back to the original premise here....every freaking school is overpopulated. The "new" elementary school was filled past capacity within 18 months. The high school for my area...10 miles away...on the 2nd busiest road in the county, poor ingress/egress to it, and way overcrowded with piss poor education. Must have a bunch of rocket scientists and brain surgeons running the show at city hall. But hey...we have a new music facility and a bunch of other needless BS.
