The county I currently live in for work - Cecil County, MD - has about 110,000 inhabitants and 194 confirmed death. That's 0.18% death rate since counting for a county that has no major city but is part of the I-95 corridor and has a lot of commuters to Baltimore, MD and Wilmington, DE.
My hometown in Germany - Dortmund - has ~590,000 inhabitants and 283 confirmed death ("from" C-19, not "with") since April 2020. That is 0.048% death rate since April 2020.
One big difference is that Dortmund distinguishes between "died with C-19" and "died because of C-19" whereas here in the USA everything is lumped together for effect.
