(Readers digest of the issue...FCC granted liscense to telecoms for a 5G signal frequency range that is very close to the frequency range used by radio altimeters in airplanes. Radio altimeters are required to fly CAT II and CAT III approaches, which allow jets to land when the visibility is very low--less than 1/2 mile. The 5G signal can interfere with the radio altimeter signal, so now airlines won't be able to use these lower minimums, causing us to divert when we would have been able to land before. All this takes affect next month.)

They are. In a meeting last month, the FAA showed that if the FCC had granted the liscense for the 5G frequency range in 2019, over 30 million passengers would have been affected. FCC basically said, yeah but the telecom money...and granted the liscense anyway. So next time you are flying and the weather is crap and we have to divert, thank the FCC.
