Yup. Read the actual journals of Lewis and Clark. Undaunted Courage is pretty good too. They were some of the first to document in detail how the natives operated. Sacajawea was basically a slave and stolen from her tribe by another tribe. That tribe sold her to a fur trader and then L&C "hired" them to be interpreters. The Sioux, Blackfeet, and Crow were always stealing shit from each other, as well as other tribes.

There are a few papers out there that detail some of the most violent times in our history were BEFORE white people ever got here.

I grew up around reservations my whole life. I have met and know numerous successful Native Americans. The ones I know basically left the reservation because they could see the endless cycle of hopelessness that abounds as a result of their over dependence on government. There is no better example in the US of the undeniable fact that socialism doesn't work than a reservation.

Trust me I have a lot of empathy for native Americans. I just get tired of being blamed for all the shit from the past. I didn’t have a damn thing to do with it. Threw out history many cultures and races have suffered unfairness. I could not agree more. No one living today had thing one to do with it. There are some things in the past that I think are just flat wrong, the Indian right to vote for example.

The Snyder Act of 1924 admitted Native Americans born in the U.S. to full U.S. citizenship. Though the Fifteenth Amendment, passed in 1870, granted all U.S. citizens the right to vote regardless of race, it wasn't until the Snyder Act that Native Americans could enjoy the rights granted by this amendment.

But again who is around that was an adult before 1924? No one. There was an issue, it was corrected lets move on. No need to look back and whine over all the years when they did not have the right to vote. On a side note:

Passed by Congress February 26, 1869, and ratified February 3, 1870, the 15th Amendment granted African American men the right to vote.

Yes at one time everyone has suffered unfairness, but the very top of "unfairness" is punishing current generations for what past ones did. And it goes on in the community as well.

And this is the shit that just frosts me. Cherry picking your history to make your point. If you want to look to the past lets look at ALL OF IT. Like I said it was not a real happy place before the whites came to the US, or south america, or mexico, or Africa or Asia. It was a shit show before. To just look at a single aspect is just flat not right. Skinning people alive, burning of feet, all kinds of family sports went on. They also had a pretty big issue of inbreeding. Some of the bands numbered in the hundreds, some DNA is going to get crossed. Many people think this is why many went sterile, and the birth rate was falling through the floor. Others think the indian new this, and getting "new blood" in was one reason people got taken as war prizes, both male and female, with children under the age of puberty being a big target. This is why Cynthia parker was taken at such a young age, same with Olive Oatman. Both "rescued" and both not real happy about it. What cynthia did after being "rescued" is straight out of a horror movie. She was of a totally different culture. These kids taken from about 4 to 15 roughly, old enough to "be on their own" but still young enough to be "useful". The older people are always killed and the babies killed, you know the older will be nothing but trouble, same with a baby.
