Possible JAE news?

Very interested in a MDT J Allen. Always liked the originals but wasn't in the position to buy one when they were available. Just got a new rifle here a month ago now and I can't decide if I throw a cheap stock on it for the time being or just go with something good and sell it when the new J allens come out.

Bought a used JAE-700 for my comp rifle, had never seen one in real life before as it's super rare on this side of the pond and just had to have it.

That build quality is hard to beat, and it got quite a few innovative things going for it.

Not tested it yet tho as i'm still waiting for the new optics for the rifle...

But from just playing around with it at home, i'm pretty sure i will buy another one for the next build when MDT gets them to the market.

I do hope they add some threaded screw holes or keylocks at the fore end for weights, that's the only thing i'm missing as it's quite back heavy even with the original super long(6" i believe) Arca rail. Still trying to figure out a way to solve it on my chassi, without drilling and tapping holes.

Sawtooth rifles makes side rails to replace the factory ones, sawket rail, i think they call them that are mlok so you can attach mlock weights to them
Edit: here's the link to them

Mine is an older generation so no side rails on it.

Probably just going to get some holes drilled so i can screw on some MDT weights, makes it more usable anyway and it's not something i plan to sell in the near future.

Seems like all the matches over here is cancelled until this corona issue is solved so i have plenty of time to figure it out.

Yeah probably.

I saw now that It has predrilled holes in the metal part of the fore end, so just need to drill the polymer and make custom fit weights for it. Also looks like a cut out for nuts inside at each hole so should be an easy fix.

Thank you, I did get with Lisa and she told me the Impact was a go but didn't think the Bat TR hanger would clear. I have Mark @ SAC checking a TR this week if he still has a JAE in the shop. Thanks again for the replies and pic's

It has front to back and they do an extended mag catch that's designed to be filed down to the right hight. Like I said not as good but the same result accures with a little more work

Tagging for Intrest.
Quality doesn’t come cheap, but money doesn’t grow on trees. I don’t think there would be harm in two versions. That is if it’s even possible.
I have a Cadex Strike Nuke being installed on my Vudoo build. I would give the JA/MDT a very hard look on my long range setup I am planning to do soon.

I would love if there were cheek pieces available for the original jae700. I bought a used one with the previous owners info engraved on the cheek piece and I would love to be shooting my own rifle without someone else into on it lol. First world problems, right? Lol

It's hard to say exactly, it should be this year, but we're not in a position to provide anything concrete. But once we are there, we will be making it known for sure!

We did change the cheek piece, but it might work on the original versions; we will be doing some test fitting in the coming time.

Right now, it's likely the removable cage system won't be a thing for us. But we won't be certain until everything is approved and running. But keep in mind there will be a ton more information available closer to launch.

Edited to fix poor wording.

It's not about cost; we are located in Canada, so trying to get a chassis back here to change the cage is not super practical, right, but it's also not confirmed.

It's not confirmed that we are removing it for sure, but outside of that, we haven't removed anything. We've changed a few things around to make it easier to manufacture and made some updates that were requested like the LOP has gone shorter, and we are adding a vertical grip and an angled grip as well. And keep in mind this project is still in progress, so things do change as it goes on.

EDITED to fix the wrong word.

Yes, that would be cool, but from what we understand, that wasn't the case, and the cage change had involvement with very specialized tooling and wasn't able to be performed at your house.

And always keep in mind as well this may be something that happens later on; with JAE our goal is first to get back into production and getting the timelines and price point down. But development always goes on in parrelel in the background. Sometimes we need to chain @MDT_Josh back to his desk so he can keep working to make stuff like this possible!

Fixed cage reference

Right, my mistake, it's so new to us. I always get the cage and collets backward, and at this point, we aren't that far in yet. There is still a long way to go, so keep checking back with us, and for right now, the 700 SA is the focus, so there will be more information available. And I've just realized my original wording on what I said was wacky, so I'm going to update that for clarity.

And to add a bit more, we've only been working on the 700 version right now. Tikka should be started on soon.

I can't help but think prs has moved on since these were good. I use to really want one. I played with one at the mdt stand in france and was very underwhelmed just comparing it to the mdt acc gen 2 that still isn't my favourite chassis
