You're seeing more and more hunters (even on TV i.e. Gun werks crew) using the ELD-M on hunts with stellar results. Good to see that in the public eye. Proof is in the pudding.

Three deer, 2 does and a buck, all dropped with 175SMK over 41.7g IMR4064. All within 100, two of them DRTd, bigger doe ran almost 100y, with an amazing arterial spray the whole time. Best opening day for me ever, over 100 pounds of meat in the freezer. I had been contemplating a “deer round” but I’m not worried about it anymore.

Anybody use the 136 Scenar-L’s on any game? I have those in some hand loads or 140 ELD-M match factory. I would like to use my hand loads for personal satisfaction, but an ethical kill is way more important to me. Indiana white tail season opens tomorrow and I’ll be hunting for the first time since I was 12. Hopefully at 21 I have a little more luck!

My cousin and I took another elk yesterday morning, ended up using my 25 creedmoor. I dont like shooting mature cows after they get “with child”, cause it means killing a cow, and next years calf. So we shoot this years calf whenever we can. 325 yards, with the Blackjack Ace 131 grain.

A doe taken by my son at 200 yards after a 250 yard stalk. Hit her just above the shoulder in the spine. No tracking needed. 130 Prime factory ammo out of a RAP in a Magpul hunter and a Harvester suppressor.

I shot my buck in the last 15 minutes of firearms season last night. 234 yards, broadside, both lungs. He went maybe 30 yards. Tikka 6.5 Creed, 20" factory barrel, TBAC 30 P1. Hanging weight, no hide, legs, or head was 120 lbs. Factory 130 Prime.

205lb whitetail 140gr Berger VLD @3040fps. 200yd shot

20181129_094845.jpg

Entrance on right, liquified lungs and base of heart along with all of the vasculature, smashed the left shoulder, no exit, deer went 5 yards. Typical Berger kill.

It's been a while since I put anything in this thread but I was reminded of it this morning when someone walked into my shop and proclaimed a bunch of nonsense about hunting with match bullets, including telling me I was irresponsible for it.

Anyway:

2010 - Cast lead 180gr with a gas check, fired at 1600fps from a 30-30 loaded with trailboss. Deer ran about 120yd and crashed. She was hit at 30yd in both lungs, the hit stunned her and she appeared DRT. After about 3min she got up and bolted. By this time I had already unloaded my rifle and was coming down out of the treestand.

2011 - 368yd 6.5 Creed 140 Amax starting at 2675fps, double lung ran appx 30yd
2012 - 412yd 6.5 Creed 140 Amax starting at 2820fps, high shoulder, DRT.
2013 - Filled all tags in Archery
2014 - 582yd 6x47 Lapua 105 Hybrid starting at 2980fps, just behind shoulder, entered on a rib and frag hit both lungs and spine. DRT
2015 - Filled all tags in Archery
2016 - All tags in Archery
2017 - (4 deer) 6mm BR 105 Hybrid deer were shot at 24yd, 245yd, 440yd, 515yd - all shot in the top of the heart and ran under 10yd (it is a 6BR afterall)
( 2 deer) 7mm SAUM 162 ELDx at 35yd on run, muley buck through the heart. Expired in under 50yd. Other was whitetail doe at 685yd high double lung. This deer ran with lungs hanging out of the offside, she made it almost 300yd through field and woods, bedded down and it took 3 hours to find her
2018 - (1 so far) 6mm BR using 95 TMK shot at 45yd high double lung clipped the aortic artery, DRT. Massive internal trauma.

The worst runners came from "tough" hunting bullets.

Way to go Will. stud!

Thanks man i'm pretty stoked about it, little disappointed in the Sig. Might have to let them look at it after hunting season ABU was spot on. But it took forever to get a range. I was thinking my ziess just broke, we got a replacement, and i'm about to have to watch this SOB walk back in the woods lol

123 ELD-M out of the Grendel.

Hornady 68gr hpbt 223...

This is my first buck ever, I was shaking like a leave, and missed, he looked around and I quietly worked the action to load another round.
I got him in the lungs on a slight angle, he wobbled and dropped.

The bullet shed it's jacket and liquefied it's inside, the lead core was under it's skin opposing the entrance wound which was around 1"

Almost no meat was lost, I only cut away the yuck at the wound entrance.

Here is 1 critter out of 5 I harvested so far this year with 300N 230 OTM’s. DRT no visible entry, small exit. Bull downhill 500 yards quarting to me. Entry just behind left front, one lung, destroyed liver, exit back right ribs. Not a step.
Same deal on everything else for last several years, OTM’s, SMK’s and Scenars.
