It's been a while since I put anything in this thread but I was reminded of it this morning when someone walked into my shop and proclaimed a bunch of nonsense about hunting with match bullets, including telling me I was irresponsible for it.
Anyway:
2010 - Cast lead 180gr with a gas check, fired at 1600fps from a 30-30 loaded with trailboss. Deer ran about 120yd and crashed. She was hit at 30yd in both lungs, the hit stunned her and she appeared DRT. After about 3min she got up and bolted. By this time I had already unloaded my rifle and was coming down out of the treestand.
2011 - 368yd 6.5 Creed 140 Amax starting at 2675fps, double lung ran appx 30yd
2012 - 412yd 6.5 Creed 140 Amax starting at 2820fps, high shoulder, DRT.
2013 - Filled all tags in Archery
2014 - 582yd 6x47 Lapua 105 Hybrid starting at 2980fps, just behind shoulder, entered on a rib and frag hit both lungs and spine. DRT
2015 - Filled all tags in Archery
2016 - All tags in Archery
2017 - (4 deer) 6mm BR 105 Hybrid deer were shot at 24yd, 245yd, 440yd, 515yd - all shot in the top of the heart and ran under 10yd (it is a 6BR afterall)
( 2 deer) 7mm SAUM 162 ELDx at 35yd on run, muley buck through the heart. Expired in under 50yd. Other was whitetail doe at 685yd high double lung. This deer ran with lungs hanging out of the offside, she made it almost 300yd through field and woods, bedded down and it took 3 hours to find her
2018 - (1 so far) 6mm BR using 95 TMK shot at 45yd high double lung clipped the aortic artery, DRT. Massive internal trauma.
The worst runners came from "tough" hunting bullets.
