Looking to possibly build a 6.5 prc but availability of know powders has me worried. I will be primarily using Barnes 127lrx. So what would be a decent alternative to RL26 and h1000 that might be available in kegs somewhere?

I’ve used H4831 w/ good results. H4831SC would likely work similarly.
Also excellent results w/ RL22

Christiansen MPR 24” CF 1:8 barrel

Hornady 129 gr Interlock
H4831 58 gr
Hornady brass
Fed 210M
COL 2.020
COAL 2.940
3156, 3177, 3180, 3170, 3180 fps
1” group

Hornady 129gr Interlock
RL22 57 gr
Hornady brass
Fed 210
COL 2.052
COAL 2.850
3160, 3190, 3212, 3206 fps
0.6” group

I am getting good results with Vihtavuori N565 and Hunter Hammer 124gr solids. I have also used the 127gr LRX, but get more consistent accuracy with the Hunters, and less copper fouling. I am coating these bullets with HbN.

Freebore in this chamber is 0.130”. 24” barrel, 1/7.75 twist.
Hunter Hammer 124gr @ 60.0 gr yields 3168fps @ 0.25 moa; 2.90 COAL; New ADG Brass; 210M primer
Same load with 1X fired ADG brass yielded an avg of 3188fps, 0.35moa.

Hey Joe, I know this is an OOOOOOLD post, but if you remember/still have the rifle and data do you remember your starting loads with the 124 hammers or the 127 LRX? I have LRX on have and 130 CX on hand but there still isn't tons of data on the 130 or some of the coppers for 6.5 PRC.

Thanks man, sorry for digging up a super old post, I'm just data mining to maximize effect.

Hi CK,
My starting load for the Hunter Hammer 124gr with new ADG brass was 60.0gr VV N565 @ 2.90 COAL. 210M Primers. After this fire forming I kept the same load and have been satisfied with the outcome.

OK, now I get your question…I dug up my records. I worked up from 56.5 gr in increments of 0.5 to eventually arrive at 60.0. I use Quickload for load development. If you don’t have it, I do recommend the investment.
