Shooting out of a 20" bolt gun. I have speer 168 hpbt, and 178 gr amax so far. I have imr 4895, N150, RL 15, imr 4320, and varget on the way. I only have a lb or 2 of each powder so Im not trying to use it unless its worth it. Which would work the best for my loadout? Im looking on each powders website but im still kinda confused.

I like Varget. Every comb of bullet, brass, and primer has already been done with the stuff for .308 and I can use it for heavy .223. Varget works really well in a lot of cals and loads. I like it's temperature stability too. I am not a benchrest guy and don't like to keep a bunch of different powders around and spending my time looking for the Holy Grail load. Rarely have I taken a proven load with a 175MK /W Varget and gotten less than .5 moa at 100yds in my rifles.

All but IMR-4320 should work fine.

Load up using any of the others and you tell us, what works best, in your weapon.

Good article on using IMR 4320 in 308

http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2012/12/imr-4320-yields-great-results/
But like Chris says, Load some up and please report back.
I use a IMR4895 load starting around 42.6gr in any 54gr volume case 168SMK. 2575fps 22in barrel.

I have some of that, but it's not one of the ones you typically see under the 30 cal bullets in 308.

Like the article states, it's the 'forgotten powder'.

My standard reply is, is that with enough time and weapons, you can get BlueDot to work in a 308 Winchester case.

I stand corrected.
