The RO.

Yes. Whenever you have someone spotting hits, if there is a question, but there was *any* indication, you give the benefit of the doubt to the shooter. This is how we run the Steel Safari and it's not an issue.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">One of the things I'm wondering about, and related to the point above, is steel that would react clearly to .223 hits.</div></div>
You cannot use the same type of reactive targets at 400+ for .223 that you can get away with at <400.

I do not recommend relying on audible feedback alone for judging hits. It is less reliable than seeing the hit. There is a considerable delay as the sound propagates back, and this can be a big problem if the shooter is still shooting at it, or another target. The answer to long-range .223 hit-spotting is the strobe target.

Yeah, I was wondering about the sound delay issue. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you write up a list of the targets and vendors you recommend? Might even make a good draft for a potential future article..

Re: Practical highpower. I want your thoughts...

Good to know. I guess I was also looking for the suggested sizes. My guess, for what we're doing, would be to keep it silhouette type. But I was looking for rationale or experience for why certain sizes work well at certain distance, etc. I suppose we could just go full size silhouette across the entire course. Easier at 200, harder at 600. I dunno- thoughts?

Go out and shoot more types of matches to get an idea what you think you're trying to do (better?). As it is, it's like a virgin trying to write a romance novel.

Hell, the information you're asking about is contained in match reports.

Cool. Thanks Vu.
