Prayers for members child

Re: Prayers for members child

Prayers sent, there is nothing harder than seeing one of your children in the hospital. My second son spent ten-weeks in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit upon birth, after we had been told he wouldn't live through his first night. He just turned four on August 11th and is a happy, healthy little boy. Hang in there brother, God does work miracles.

If you all don't mind, I am offering a prayer here which will help me make it a fervent one, and so others might use it too.

God on High, hear our prayer: Our Father in heaven, even your name is holy. We pray that your kingdom come among us as it is in heaven, and that we might be so good as to be aware of it. We ask for this day, the gift it is, and its provisions. Forgive us, we pray O Lord, and we recall that we must also forgive so that we may be forgiven. Lead us away from temptation and away from evil so that our souls may be holy to the extent we can establish a conscious contact with you, praying for your will to be done, that we might know your will, and that you will grant us the power to carry it out. Let us know all glory and honor is yours.

We know, too, Father, that though we choose at times to pray only when we need something from you, rather than praying ceaselessly for our brethren and our own souls, we know your mercy endures forever especially at times like these when we are without sufficient heavenly wisdom to know why tragedy occurs, or threatens to, exposing our fears and weaknesses. Show us how to be strong - to always be faithful to you, our loved ones and spouses - how to turn to helping others to get our minds off our own troubles and desires.

We praise you, Lord, and we give you thanks for all we have, and all we don't have, for not everything is good, and too much good can be bad especially for me, a sinner in the Temple with the Tax Collector who's only prayer was "God, have mercy on me, a sinner", and whose prayer was answered. Have mercy on us too. Defend us in battle and protect us from the wickedness and snares of the devil. Rebuke him, we humbly pray. Help us to sin no more inasmuch as its humanly possible, to avoid the near occasion of sin, and to resolve to do better and turn to you with an open heart, not of stone, but of compassion.

Now, Lord, having praised and thanked you, we ask in Jesus' name for healing, if it is your will, for our boy, an angel, who is ill, your child whom you have entrusted to us for his rearing and spiritual maturity - that you heal him like your Son did so many times, even raising Lazarus from the dead after three days. Raise to good health our son here on earth too. Give us another chance for we are sorry for having taken the true gift of our children for granted. Give us another chance to repent.

We ask that your will be done, and if it is different that what we would have you do, grant that we might endure, resolve to be better Christian brothers and sisters and love each other like you wish we would, with patience, kindness, charity, and peace.

We offer this prayer up to you, O Lord, in the name of The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen, and peace to all of you, especially our sick little boy. [/color]
