I one day, would like to be as perfect as you two and never make a mistake or have anything go afoul. How nice it must be to live such a wonderful life, he who lives in a glass house should not throw stones.

Ubet, I'm only responding because I think at heart you're a good kid and I'd rather there were more people who were good and misguided than the alternative. The misguided can always find redemption through knowledge and experience. I speak from personal experience on this.

I am only holding Tres to be accountable for his actions. I am not happy he has played a part in his own misfortune but play a part he most certainly did. I am rather disgusted by his refusal to admit fault and his willingness to ask others to sacrifice as a result of his mistakes. I need not say more than what ihave on his scripture quoting. I'm very wel versed in the Bible and it doesn't absolve one of responsibility for themselves.

You're mistaking my view that a man is responsible for himself for kicking Tres when he's down. I'm not one to turn my back on others but a man who won't admit fault and thiinks those who call him on it are 'dross' is a fool. Some would say the socialization of losses based on ones own action is socialism....

If thie above makes me a troll I care little. I hope before you dismiss this post you give it a little objective thought.

KYS888, "demon"? Lol!

Re: Prayers(!!) & guns needed.

First, Tresmon probably did screw up, and I'm sure he is aware of it. It comes down to what should a reasonable person do and that varies from place to place. Where I live it is considered reasonable to not lock your house. That said, my dad and brother had a bunch of guns stolen. They got them all back and it was a neighbor that did it. Out of the goodness of their hearts, they didn't press charges because he was supposedly drunk and he was an Iraq veteran. I haven't asked, but I bet they lock that door now.

Second, I don't understand the hysteria about criminals getting their hands on guns through his irresponsibility. Is it really that difficult for them to get them? What a criminal does with his ill gotten weapons doesn't reflect on the person he stole them from.

Third, I do believe that when a women is in a bad part of town at night and she is raped, it is partly her fault, she should not have been there. But it is pretty bad form to get in her face about it. So Tresmon screwed up, and he got robbed by someone who took advantage of that. Gently pointing out that he bears some responsibility for these events is one thing, jumping all over him is another.

And EventHorizon, people voluntarily giving money is called charity, and it is the opposite of socialism.

Re: Prayers(!!) & guns needed.

The act of giving, as I have already mentioned, is a kind and charitable personal choice. I was referring to Tres' attitude, no those who want to help him out.

What a criminal does with his stolen firearm is up to the criminal. Should we be indifferent on how they get those weapons?

I don't think anyone got in his face until his (and the response of others) suggested that Tres did NOTHING wrong, was a hapless victim and that the bad guys are the ones saying - 'don't leave firearms in your car unattended'

You either believe one is responsible for one's own actions or not. I do.

I'm out of this thread now.

As do I and people can say whatever they want about 'kicking a man when he's down' but the FACT of the matter is there is NEVER an excuse for leaving firearms in your vehicle unattended. NEVER! Negligence where firearms are concerned can cost innocent lives. In this situation, one persons negligence resulted in having their personal property burglarized and stolen. Let's just hope that no crime is committed with the missing firearm.

I'm not being unsympathetic about his misfortune. It truly does suck and I can't imagine what it would be like to have my rifle stolen, nor do I want to, but if it does happen to be stolen...I can guaran-damn-tee you that it won't be the result of me leaving it in my truck unattended.

Re: Prayers(!!) & guns needed.

People want me to confess my wrong?
I left a pistol in a locked car on my property. For this I make no apology.

Had I left it in plain view on the dash with the windows down and doors open, then yes I'd agree it's negligence.

Castle domain applies to your home and your vehicle. My castle was raided.
I never asked for money or charity. It came from gracious kind people stepping up to the plate when THEY felt they identified a need. God bless them for it.

A few of you have said in so many words that it kinda depends where you live....

I sleep with my windows and doors open at night to save on the AC/elec bill. Lots of neighbors leave the windows down in their cars at night. Some leave the keys on the floor board. Theft is not know here (period) and this is a huge NEW shock to the community.

However, I agree with those that wrote I should be able to leave my pistol wherever. And I'll not take a thrashing for leaving one locked up tight out of sight in my vehicle either.

Re: Prayers(!!) & guns needed.

He never owned it either-
Instead he gave an even worse excuse for being so tired- he was literally falling asleep at the wheel on the drive home. Good thing he didn't kill anyone while driving, though most likely that would have prevented the alleged thief of two pistols.

Now about kicking a guy when he is down- I've seen people go apeshit over cops making a mistake, You Tube antics, politicians caught fingerbanging pages, whatever.

Obviously none who whine over that have stood an Army after action review where even a successful mission is picked apart till you forget you actually got 'er done!

Self proclaimed boyscout didn't forget a pizza in the oven, or left the lid off some paint. He left a weapon in his car.

Now noone has called for his right hand to be cut off, or for him to deny his self proclaimed mantle as THE GUY the locals will folk to is the SHTF. No one has said he needs to hung as an example for others-

Just with Rights comes Responsibility.

Now I do have a goodly number of problems with his story about what happened. It just does not add up. Also a bit surprized at how rabid a few 'defenders' are over a guy who supposedly armed two bad guys. Seems a bit much and a bit ignorant.

Chikin-
You obviously don't read more than the Pit, I post alot in the firearm related threads. It is too bad you didn't have so critical an eye on Tres's first post in this hot mess as you think you do with my posts...

FYI, I don't know what happened to that post above, it was alot longer than two sentences.

Anyways, I dont care if guys send Tres money. I think it is foolish but fools and their money- I think any survivalist worth his salt first should own more than one 'defensive' pistol and have them separated incase one is lost. He should have a cloak or two worth a simple pistol.

While some can use a pistol like crazy I don't think lacking one inhibits the surviviability of anyone, especially one who has such ninja skills he teaches it to hot deer skin clad women and they adore him for it!

I guess his use of self promotion in this and other threads set a wrong tone for me. The odd rant about the end of the world, somewhat bizarre use of the Good Book, and rather sketchy story on what happened just doesn't give me the warm fuzzy it did others.

However I am refraining from frothy, crazy assed rants if someone disagrees with me.

Re: Prayers(!!) & guns needed.

I hit some of the high spots, but skipped most of this thread....maybe I shouldn't have, but whatever.

Figured it for a bunch of back and forth between the victim, his supporters, and some not so sympathetics.

Damn me for being the realist who speaks a piece...the door was left open tho'.

Getting shit stolen sucks, BTD, not a gun, but car stereo stuff.......deputies figured it would fund somebody's drug habit.

I never saw it again......

Had a tree stand stolen once too, by somebody who shot the lock off with birdshot......can't recall putting a hand out to incite other's benevolence for a new one, and wrote it off as my mistake for leaving it where it could get taken.

May the rat bastard thief break his neck in a tree stand accident.......

Not to be "mean", and maybe it's been hit upon already, but I noticed somebody got robbed of his two favoritist carry guns whilst he slept at night......sumthin's most wrong with THAT picture, in my humble opinion.

I'd be too embarrassed to come on here and post something like this, but that's just me............
