So as a guy who prefers a traditional looking stock, what’s the benefit of a foundation over say a Bravo or MDT XRS?

Legit question as those are my two go to chassis on both center fire and rimfire.

It’s just heavier and a preference thing. Chassis>stock

I shoot both chassis and stock setups. I usually prefer a stock for a rifle who's basic configuration does not change. If it's always running the same barrel length and weight configuration etc. I prefer a stock because it's simple and there's less things to fail or work their way loose. For example, the frontend of my AXSR once came loose in the middle of a course of fire because I'd forgotten to torque-check my rifle before a long day of shooting.

But, if I'm going to be changing things around (calibers, barrel lengths, etc.) I prefer the configurability of a chassis system.

For a stock example, after trying out many different things on my 6ARC rig I've settled on a specific barrel profile and length dedicated to a specific action and that's just going to be the rifle in perpetuity. So that's now running in a stock. The foundation specifically is nice because it's a nice dense water impervious material that just feels pleasant under recoil. I did upgrade the buttstock pad because I prefer an adjustable height on that. To answer your question, I would shoot a Bravo for that as well, but I like the broader forend of the Foundation so it's just a feature preference for me.

For my multi-cal setups I prefer a chassis system because I need to be able to change weights and balance points.

In terms of shooting, they all have generally the same LOP, cheek riser height, stock pad position, and trigger weight, regardless of it being a stock or a chassis. So I shoot them all pretty much the same.

Finally got this put together last night. First non-AR that I pieced together and built how I wanted.

Osprey Barrel, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7.5 twist, M24 contour from PVA
McMillan A4
Hawkins M5 DBM
Harris S-BRM 9”-13”
Vortex Viper HD 5-25 sitting in Vortex rings

Loaded up the 3 AICS mags I have on hand last night and made sure the rifle would cycle with no issues. Just need to check headspace after the gauges show up today or tomorrow. Assuming headspace checks out, I’ve got like 8 different boxes of various match loadings to do break in and accuracy tests with.

Only thing left to figure out is a muzzle device while I save up for a suppressor for it.

Look into the Area 419 Hellfire brakes. The mounting system is great/portable and they have suppressor adapters.
