Precision Rifles.....show em!!

Figured I would take a picture off the deck after swapping on the NF I have ever bought. Man this scope is nice, seems very close to the PMii that I just took off, only with more magnification.View attachment 7394193
I'm so nervous right now looking at the BP barely holding onto the deck rail... lol... Awesome setup

A new pic of my same ole rifle:

It does ok I guess with accuracy:

Hey, this is my first post but been lurking these forums for awhile. I’m completely new to long distance shooting and only have a entry level Ruger Precision Rifle but have taken a course which helped a lot, most importantly with recoil management and trigger pull as well as dialing in my ballistics calculator.
As a new shooter with a entry rifle I was able to get sub-MOA groups still. Furthest range I have here in Los Angeles is 600 yards which is very boring, going to look for a longer distance range even if it’s going to be a big of a drive.

Nice shooter.
California Tactical academy has a 1000 yard range in LA. I have not shot there yet

Or You can go down to Pala. They have an 850+ yard range

Usually flutting reduces weight has the cool factor but also can increase rigidity
Increase rigidity? In one word no. Vs the same blank before fluting? Hell no. Vs a non fluted lighter profile that weighs the same as the fluted barrel? Maybe. But only in that case.

Cool factor? For sure. Check out some of @LongRifles Inc. patterns. They are cool factor out the wazoo.

Taken from here. I don't own fluted.

I was in Stockholm, shooting the best competition of the year this past saturday, Sommarträffen 2020.
Here I am, shooting steel at 1000 meters with my TRG22, chambered in .308 winchester, no less. Using my handloads with Lapua Scenar L 175 grain bullets.

Oh, and I would have used other pants, had I not forgotten them at home, about a 7 hour drive away...
The hawaii t-shirt is however mandatory, I have used it at that competition 3 years in a row now.

How about some groups shot with that
I have not shot the rifle in many years, possibly when the weather cools off a bit here, I will load up some rounds and try it from the bench!
I still have all the reloading components and equipment around here somewhere.
If the groups are not too embarrassing, will post them.
I have only used the Gilkes-Ross in competition, never tried it from a bench.
20+ years ago, I was an active Service Rifle competitor, used an M1A built for me by Clint Fowler.
The younger guys all had AR’s and scored better, but I like the M1A, as I carried an M14 in the Army in the 60’s.
Switched to Match Rifle when I became too old and creaky for Service Rifle.
Thus Mike Ross built the Match gun for me.

What is the purpose of the fluted barrel? Looks or cut down on weight a few oz?
I shoot both fluted and non fluted barrel precision rifles. Other than slight reduction in weight and possible a tad quicker barrel cooling due to increased surface area of barrel, I see no difference between the two types that affect accuracy.
