Alright, my Zeiss came in for my 20” Ridgeline FFT 7mm-08 Rem. Now she’s ready to zero, and do some load development with the Berger 175 Elite Hunters.

With the boresighted zero (estimate), and the 20MOA base, I still get 66 MOA of elevation available. And if I can average 2500 FPS MV, that will be enough to dial to 1,475 yards, and still have the entire reticle available. 👍🏼

Holy shit I was just lurching on the threads. A thought that popped in my head minus how poor I am going through these was, that there is just something about the looks of a stock that I love compared to a chassis system. Next thing you know I'm on the McMillan website, man those are sexy stocks for some reason I don't like the competition ones though they just look weird as shit to me plus the flamboyant colors not really my thing.
I’m with you, broke as a joke myself. I had too flip the coin on a few items and scored one others. I can’t hang with a lot of these guys or there rigs, best I can do is get solid quality parts put it together right and swing for the fences.

All I’m after is a fun range toy that’s looks close, my aim is for a fun stick that I won’t embarrass myself while shooting at a FTR Match.

I got a lump of coal for Christmas... In the form of a black Foundation 🚂⛄😬

First one is an actual build. I put my Mossberg Patriot .308 Win into an MDT chassis (LSS gen 2 with folding adapter and SCS buttstock.) And it averages after 60 rounds of no rest at 1 MOA. So, some shots are better than others but the whole average is 1 MOA. That is worthy of use in the Battalion, actually. What is not shown is that I later added a clamp-on brake by Kahntrol Solutions. Butterfly kisses on the cheek.

Out of the box and ready to go with 1/3 MOA all day is this, already set up with adjustable cheek. Mossberg MVP LR 308 in Kuiu Camo (I have hunted with this one,)

And yes, those are Vortex optics. The Diamondback Tactical 6-24X50 FFP with the EBR-2C reticle. Go ahead and do your hate Vortex optics thing for whatever jollies that gives you. I also have Arken optics to put on these, as I please.

In fact, my sniper rifle for deer is my TC Compass II .308 Win in an Oryx chassis and that is my avatar. 1/2 MOA all day with Federal Fusion 165 grain. And right now, I have an Arken SH4 Gen 2 6-24X50 on it. If I could, I would sell all my SH Gen 2 and get the EP 5. It's got an ASR2 muzzle brake, built so that I could thread on a suppressor later, if I so choose. 1/2 MOA out of the box and also, after 60 rounds of no rest.

I have the Mossberg MVP in 5.56 in the MDT chassis as well. All three groups pictured below were shot with old IMI 55 grain soft point ammunition.

Two things made those groups possible. The first was adding the suppressor. The second thing I did was take a file to the feed ramp.

The dumbest thing that Mossberg ever did with this rifle was use a single feed ramp on a rifle that will take AR-15 magazines that feed rounds from both sides.

So I took a file (and my time) and modified the feed ramp to emulate an AR-15 feed ramp. Then voilà, the bolt stopped binding and the bullet tips didn't get buggered up on their way to the chamber.

I'm thinking about getting a Timney trigger for this rifle but with those groups, I doubt that I really need it.

Can't remember if I posted this here or not.

Custom Remington 700 Build roughly modelled after an M40A5. Built using spare parts from our bins at work. Fully blueprinted and accurized, Wilson barrel, chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. The picture was taken before I mounted the scope.

DSC_1612_tonemapped.jpg

Took it out to sight the rifle in this morning. This is 6 shots with the rifle all stacked on top of each other using factory Hornady 147gr match ammo.

Had this action rebarrelled and put a Manners LRH stock on it. I had to remove about 3/8" from the nose of the comb piece to allow smooth removal of the bolt.

After some barrel break in, reloaded 140gr ladder test ammo this past weekend and shot it yesterday. Best group is 0.3MOA.

The braked rifles set up to QD a Sandman S.

Sounds good, what powder? I’m looking at a heavy for my 5 7mm 08’s
Varget was fast enough to allow enough case fill to get good velocity, but still not take up too much room in the case, thus allowing me to seat the long 175’s deep enough into the case to properly magazine feed this ammo for hunting, without compressing the powder. 😏👍🏼

Think I found a great node with the Berger 175 Elites in my new 20" Ridgeline FFT 7mm-08... No pressure signs other than slightly flattened primers, no ejector swipes, so I'll probably stick with 38.0 grains just for that extra 1/2gr. of velocity. 😏
What kind of velocity are you getting out of the 20" barrel?

Did you consider sourcing one of the Surefire MB762SSAL to finish off the m40a5 look?

Testing today confirmed load and chrono results from yesterday, and proved it is a very temp stable load. The weather was much warmer today. Compared to yesterday’s results, my average MV was within 5 FPS, SD was within 3 FPS, and the groups held true. So, if I do my part, it’s definitely more accurate than me. 😏👍🏼
