Folks I have moved from an sfp scope 22x at the top end to an FFP 16x at the top end. I am kind of second guessing myself thinking I should have gone with an FFP with a higher top end. So what have others got on their 6.5 tac style rifles and your reasons ?

I've got a 5-15x on my 260, which replaced a 6-24x so I could use the rifle for hunting.

For paper group shooting I'd like more, but out to 1000yd on 1MOA targets I didn't feel I was lacking much with "only" 15x.

I have a 3-15x Premier on my .260 and have shot all the way out to a mile with it. I agree that if shooting tiny groups is your main focus more magnification is probably better, but for practical field style shooting more than 20x is probably a waste.
I had a Bushnell 3.5-21 DMR for a while and liked the higher top end but not enough to replace the Premier on my .260.

For a field rifle I think the most important part of the scope is having a reticle you know well and having an adjustment system that requires as little thought as possible (ie single turn knobs, matching reticle/knobs).

S&B 5-25x56. Rarely use under 8x at matches and would rather have atleast 20x on the top for not only taking shots at small targets but to spot shots. With a FFP optic you can dial down simply enough if needed.

I use a 5-25 S&B too. I can easily spot my own shots with high top end power, and dial down and use the same holds for faster target acquisition. My 6.5 CM is not my hunting rifle, and I don't have any reason get dial down less than 5X for wider FOV.

Guys I am going to move to something with around 24or 25 I have decided. I bought a Hensoldt 16x to replace a 20x sfp scope as I wanted FFP BUT I miss the higher mag so I'm selling the Hensoldt......great scope but I want more magnification.

Thankyou

New Khales 6-24x56 with Mil 6 reticle inbound folks first try out with a Horus style reticle, I intend to dial with my primary load and use the Xmas tree for my alternative load....or at least try it out !!

I recently switched from a 18x (Swarovski) scope to a 14x (Leupold) scope. For tactical shooting (reason for the switch) on standard size steel the 14x will be fine. I have noticed though that when paper punching for really tight groups I miss the extra magnification!

I shot at the HeatStroke Open this past weekend with NF 3.5-15. For the steel and cold bore stages (300 yds minimum) it was fine. Where I really missed higher magnification was the 90 yd and closer paper shooting. It may be my eyes, but I had some difficulty acquiring targets at the closer range on 15x with enough clarity to identify the right shot. It was also my first my match, so maybe I'm doing it wrong anyway :)

I shoot a 260 rem and had no issues with 12-15x on steel targets out to 1000 yds.
