This is all I found about it so far.

I have to say I saw this coming 3 or 4 months ago. Premier is making a really nice optic and thanks to Scott at Liberty Optics a bunch of us were able to get in to them at an extremely great price(Thanks Scott). I guess this means these scopes are going to be around a little longer than some people thought.

Or Premier told a little white lie to the general public who has just taken a back seat to a large military contract?

hmmmmm......

And the Problem with that would be....?

From a business plan point of view....
Where or who do they want as their primary market....?

The shortage in components comments posted to date were in reference to the 5-25....this post states the 3-15 for the military contract...

Is the military that large of a contract? I really don't know, I'm curious. "IF" they replaced every scope on every M40A3 or A5, whatever they are now, how many is that? 500 tops?

I doubt any military wide replacement will happen, more likely that if/when they need new scopes that's what they'll be. How many is that a year?

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

My old unit still has half USO's... They haven't had the SB's very long so damn. Some guys in the old STA plt said they weren't to fond of the SB's. They said "seemed fragile". I've delt with them a little bit, didn't seem too bad.

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

This was discussed a bit over a year ago. I remember because found it interesting that the contract was awarded to PR not to SB which was sort of like a vendor suppling materials to PR.

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

Watching Premiers often times clubfooted ventures into being a customer facing company was painful and for many it was offensive in how they were treated and responded to. However, this news is a reward to their engineering and production teams. I hope they go from strength to strength and learn from their mistakes. When they can talk to customers the way they make scopes they'll be around for another 67 years easily.

Seriously glad I didn't sell mine!

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

I arrived at the booth shortly after the anoucement, Chris and his lovely wife, as well as the rest of the Premier crew were very happy, Paul went thru all the lastest changes to there scopes, and there new 1.1-8 scope, congrats to Premier Reticles.

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

Had the chance meet Mike today right after he did the video and uploaded up to youtube on site right next to PR. Best of luck to PR on the contract and thanks for supplying me with the plastic tool for the locking levers for my PH.

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

Judging by the one Mike is holding, it looks like PR FINALLY removed that stupid-ass ring from the objective!! I hope they reconfigured the ocular as well to get rid of the other shitty flip-up!!

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

The ECP was approved for the SDSS.

Just talked to Chris and they are ecstatic. This is a big deal for them, looks like the initial order is in the neighborhood of 2000 scopes. Contrary to what I thought, Chris expects this to boost commercial availability due to the ramping up of production and the need for parts, so that is good news for us civvies.

Hopefully, this will alleviate the angst out there that Premier had one foot in the grave. Your scopes shouldn't become paperweights in the forseeable future.

Looks like they're both still there...just lo-fi video.

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

Great deal... I love mine, few day after Christmas I called and ask how long for clicker upgrades they said same day turn around. Well sent them and recieved them back the next day cleaned and with new butler creek covers at no charge.I have seen a lot of people bash them and say their going out of business guess they were wrong

I am glad to see an American scope on an American rifle

Could be, but I still thought the "nunya" was a disrespectful answer to a customers honest question, they lost me as a customer for life....but hey they gained the USMC so I'm sure they're happy with the trade.

It was, no question. Just the effort that some put into repeating it and putting it into posts was pretty relentless and disproportionate IMHO. I hope over time PR get to grips with the idea that dealing with people and retail customers needs to be done so with care.

Don't hold your breath boys......dont see that happening

Yeah. Look how long the Corps hung on to the Unertls. "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without" might well have been penned by the Commandant.

Those S&Bs will probably still be killing bad guys when all of us are dead.

I guess they could have declined to answer the question in a more polite way. But I think any manufacturer is within their rights not to divulge trade secrets. Before swearing off an otherwise reputable firm, I'd ask what response any of their competitors would give to that question. Would Nightforce or S&B tell you exactly which company in Taiwan made the controller for their illuminated reticle?

On the other hand, they could certainly borrow a page from Vortex. While I'm not a fan of everything they make (and why a 35 mm tube?) I think they define customer service.

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

Actually, Premier has had the SSDS contract for about two years and it runs for a few more years. A proposed engineering change would swap the S&B 3-12x scope for the Premier 3-15x and, presumably, that change was just signed off in the last day or so by the USMC. The revised SSDS is the 3-15x MTC Gen II with a single-turn, 22-mil turret. And you can buy one yourself!!

The reason the Heritage will not be available for a few months is that it's undergoing a revision to redesign the erector to make it easier to assemble. The redesign will reduce production costs in the long run, since it will take less time to assemble a scope, and keep the price down. There is no "unobtainium" that I know of. I believe the reason that the redesign is happening now is that Premier is almost out of the parts for the original design and wants to restart production with the revised scope design.

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

I think I am going to wait for more conformation before I make my decision. A guy holding up a sign on a home video camera is not too convincing.

Going to ask some of my military friends what their take is on this...

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

No offense Seporith, (Mike with CS tactical)

I watched the reviews and everything. Love the scope and wish I had the funds even more. State of the art features on the scope are awesome.

Just waiting for the release and not the rumors...Supposedly they have had the contract for years or something.

That was Mike Cecil, a Premier scope dealer in the Sacramento, CA area. He is at the SHOT show this week and I know that Premier was expecting the final sign-off on the engineering change by the USMC sometime this week. I don't doubt the "sign."

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

This has been in the works for quite some time, and I was sworn to secrecy. However, it was not a done deal until yesterday afternoon. The announcement was genuine. I personally know Chris was hoping to get this done and out there well before the new year, it just didn't work out that way. There was no pause for dramatic effect.

Chris's people skills aren't the best. But this business is chock full of testosterone-charged personalities, to say the least. There's always at least two sides to every story, and few people should be casting stones.

The Heritage has been a wonderful product for us, and our customers, and looks like a pretty safe choice right now. No one has to buy it, but it is there for the taking.

Some grunts have already worn out their S&B MTC turrets and the scopes were returned to Premier for maintenance.

The youtube video is on our CS Tactical youtube channel. That channel is loaded with videos of the same "guy" (Mike Cecil, owner of CS Tactical and Distributor for Premier Reticles) who is holding up the sign. That sign is the same sign that was sitting on Premier Reticles SHOT Show table before Chris, the owner, handed it to Mike to include in the impromptu video only 3 hours after they found out. It's official.

We also did not start this thread. Someone found the video and linked it on their own. The video was uploaded to youtube so we could embed it into our site where anybody can figure out who it is.

Here's a link to a copy of the press release from Premier Reticles that was sent to us yesterday:

Nothing new, I heard about this from a Premier employee about three weeks ago.

Congrats, Premier!

Re: Premier 3-15 gets Marine scout sniper contract

I have had a different experience with customer relations, with Premier.
When I called about getting new clickers, the guy I talked to couldnt have been more helpful and friendly. With new clickers, my scope is just about perfect. I think that Premier is making a serious effort at good CS.
