Rifle Scopes Premier light tactical

Thinking about saving up some money for Premier light tactical 3-15x 50, really like the glass and the way they look.
Question is... Are they enough to go out to 1000? why or why not? and what do you think of the scopes. Can't really find many reviews on them except for cs tactical.

Yes, it is enough. A 3-15x light tactical in gen 2 mil dot is a great scope, and it can carry you out to 1000. The 5-25x gen 2 xr is great for ELR.

I looked at these. These are the 2 points I found that have kept me from buying one.

For the cost, there is only 12 mils of adjustment avalible and the max power is only 15.

Will 12 mils get MOST rifles to a 1000, yes. But, I don't like to be limited. Some of the Bushnell FFP's have just as much elevation.

Will 15 power work for shooting to 1K? Yes but, I personally would like to have 20X avalible when shooting longer distances. 10X will work but, I still would like more. I'm a mag whore.

For ME, the March 3-24X seems to be the better option. I called Kelby's today and a non ill. F-1 with the FML-1 runs $2230.

I'm the same. I'm only shooting to 850, but when conditions support it, I like to crank it up.

I've got optics here at the house that will LOAF at 1000x. But if you are going to be a mag whore, you've also got to be an aperture whore. The March only has a 42mm objective. A 56mm scope will probably gather almost 2x the light of a 42.

I have both scopes the Premier 3-15x50 GenII XR and the March Tactical 3-24x42 FFP!
I would gladly have another premier 3-15x50 or 4-16x50 PMII than the March!!

The March Tactical 3-24x42 is the worst scope i've owned its useless

I recommend you look through the March before you buy

Really? Thats disappointing to hear as i was enquiring today about the March 5-40x56mm FFP to put on a 6.5 Creedmoor for some F-class and steel shooting fun.
What exactly are your complaints? I'd like to hear them before i drop money on one.

The light tac has a 50mm objective and in my opinion it lacks the overall adjustment and mag for my application. I fully understand the restriction that the 42mm obj will put on the optic in regards to light transmission and eyebox. I personally would rather have additional elevation and mag avalible, even if it means that the best function of the March would be at 20X and below.

When compairing the 2 scopes, on paper, I would rather have the March. This is assuming that compactness and weight are the primary considerations of the OP. I run 5-25 PH's on my long range rigs. Love'em but, they are BIG & BULKY.

I still need to lay behind the March and I called Kelby's today about doing just that.

I have to agree about the March. The eye box on the March is bad. It was useless to me above 15x.

Looks like a 1.5 hr drive may save me $2230.

I bought one of the HDMR's with the G2 ret and my only b*tch about the scope is the 5 mil/rev turrets. If they have a 10 mil ZS turret on them, they would be near perfect.

Thanks guys I appreciate the input. I've decided that no matter what, I am getting a premier scope. I really like them. And to be honest, its not that I don't want more magnification on the scope is just that extra 1000 bucks that limits me, but trust me if I can afford the heritage version I will gladly buy one.

Been saving for a LT for a while and picked it up today. For a Win 284 on a hunting/LR rifle. Had been planning on using it with 10 or 20MOA base. Should need less than 8 mill out to 1K so for my purposes the 12 mil adjustment should be more than enough.

Had forgotten how nice this glass is - can not wait to get it mounted and take it out for a spin.

Yeah Its a 24x scope that really can only be used under 17x max!!

In a nut shell the March has

Pros

28mils adjustment

Compact

Well made

Cons

Bad eye box

Poor in low light

Poor field of view

Reticle too thick

Parallax really touchy and hard to adjust

My advice is have a good look behind one before you buy!! They aren't for everyone, some people love them some people hate them.

The Premier 3-15x50 LT is a darn good scope its only downfall for some is 12mil adjustment which i rarely go to, and i love the Gen II XR reticle too

Premier should make a 5-25x50 LT with about 20mils

I had the 3-15 Heritage and while it has some cool features like the tool-less zero, I didn't need 'em. The 38 oz. was a buzzkill. I sold it and went to an SS 5-20, which is a darn decent scope, but I realized how much I prefer the 3-15 for shooting between 25-1000 yards. I also realized that I could easily get by with the 12 mils for a .308, which is only good out to 1200 yards at most anyway.

And that's 12 mils up from your zero. The scope has 18 mils of total travel. The 25 oz weight is awesome. The glass is incredible and it's just easy to get behind. I was never bothered by having 5 mils per turn on my NF and I'm not bothered by 6 mils per turn on the LT.

The March Seem like nice scope but I was not all that impressed with them but they are nice. I would like to really test one out.

The PR Scopes are great I love my LT it rocks. The Glass is so good that it feel like I'm out of a 20x scope.

Too each his own, I've offered twice now to swap my F1 MLR2 for another March 3-24x42 FFP, so far no takers.

ETA: I have a Heritage and it is a nice scope, but there are (for me at lease) some mounting limitations because of its short OAL. The LT compounds this issue with its 30mm tube and 50mm OBJ. Bottom line is that everything is a compromise, find what works for you.

I downsized from the full size PH to the LT 3-15x50 for use on my .243.
My load is 6.8 to 1K, so I can dope 900+ on the 1st turn. 12mils total covers my azz for all I'd ever launch a DTAC. Combined with saving almost a lb. in overall weight, the LT is a perfect fit for my lighter built precision rifle...
Glass is same, all I'm lacking over the PH is ~13 oz. in weigh and a full mil 'clunk' allowed via MTC turret. I'm over it!

If my rifle had a sniper fill Micky, truck axle tube & adj cheekpiece, I'd prolly still be rockin' the big one. The LT is just a better 'fit' for my rifle. Couldn't be happier with it!

That is a good looking rifle man. Thanks for posting the pics also. I just talked to Zack I believe is his name, from suppressed tactical down here in the valley, I stop by today and took a look for a second time at the light tactical, and I absolutely love it. Its going to take me a few more months to come up with the cash since I'm about to spend it on a manners, but will definitely buy the light tactical from them.

Last I heard Premier will persevere, but naturally we will know more after SHOT. Premier is my first stop when I get there Tuesday morning.

I have only seen the documentation for it so far and I like it quite a bit. I think it has quite a bit going for it.

I did not mean you. I meant me. I have been getting occasional questions about the reticle ever since I opened my big mouth and mentioned that I am looking into it in some detail and I am not really qualified (yet) to really talk about it.
I plan to get together with David at SHOT and pick his brain a little more. Maybe then.

That is really a personal preference. The more I look at it the more it grows on me, although my first impression was also that it is too busy.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but doesn't that mean you get to range on a low magnification and also have to manipulate the magnification ring while preparing for a shot. I'm just not sure the reticle is the place to try to solve all the problems related to a shot solution.

This is an FFP reticle, so how much of it you see depends on your magnification. There are some features of the reticle that are not visible at high magnification, but as far as shooting goes, you can pull the trigger at any magnification you would like. The aiming points are the same.

The new reticle is slightly different than the old reticle and the DA charts are visible on 8x and once the drop has been determined are not necessary for the shot. The reticle can be used on max power to include ranging. If you are at max power most of the stuff has been moved out of view. The angle chart is also not in the reticle anymore.

The links above are the old reticle. Also the DA charts are a back up not a necessity.

Lowlight beat me too it on saying the PDF referenced above is for the old DTAC reticle. I ended up deleting my post I was typing because I wasn't sure how much info I should be giving on the reticles since David hasn't even gotten to talk about them himself at SHOT. I will say that the DTAC reticle was versatile, and the new DTR system is even more so. The graphs are more for back up these days as most people are running a Kestrel to grab their DA and running a laser range finder.

You'll be hard pressed to engage multiple targets at multiple ranges any faster with another system once you are used to using it...easy to learn, and the idea that it is "busy" will quickly fade.

BTW, I own the 5-25 PH's and after receiving my LTs I was very happy with the reduced size. I think it's a great scope for a rifle you'd like to be more mobile with, or at least streamline your rifle from the 5-25 PH.

I have swapped my 4-16x50 PMII for a Premier LT as I wanted to see if I could get the weight down a bit.

At first "feel" there is not much difference in weight but after a few hours in the mountain, you can feel the weight reduction which is nice.

Did a fast boxt test at a 100m range, one shot, 20 1/10 mil up, 20 r, 20 d, 20 left and came back to spot, measured the shots and - considering my shooting capabilities- came within 20 cm each--.-. so to me tracking is flawless.

HAve taken it out hunting twice, glass is very very good I would say at the same level as the PMII.

TRied the reticle holdovers (Gen2 XR)and engaged targets at 150 and 430 m. with no problem.

We have one out on T&E
It's a very nice scope with great glass.
Compared directly in very low light against a PMII 3-12x50 and a Zeiss Victory FL 4-16x50

All are very, very, very close with glass quality
