yes, nazis= bad. all socialists suck.
although, the British are socialists too now. they'll throw you in jail for wrongthink these days, or let your daughter get raped and kidnapped by Pakistani trafficking gangs who have the proper connections. Great country.
As far as the Commando order, that was given after several documented cases of British commandos executing German prisoners that literally had their hands tied when they were shot in the back of the head, so the germans said "if you want to murder unarmed troops after they surrender, we'll do the same"
the British would never do that, right? Fair play and all that. Well, they attempted to commit genocide numerous times in Ireland, depopulated the Scottish highlands, tried to exterminate the Welsh, they executed American prisoners without any qualms during the American Revolution and starved them to death on disease ridden prison hulks, they stuck Boer women and children in concentration camps, ran a massive drug pushing scheme in China, Mass executed Irish again during the Easter Uprising, murdered civilians during the Irish Civil War, and were given permission to shoot Luftwaffe pilots who bailed out over Germany, and yes, with regularity shot german prisoners. There are a lot of people around the world who think the English are complete scumbags, due to their ideas of "fair play" in war. And Churchill? There is quite a bit of evidence that as First Lord of the Admiralty, he and Sir Edward Grey conspired together and deliberately hid and misrepresented communications with the Imperial German government, acting as rabble rousers to push things over the edge because they thought that WW1 would be a "great adventure" and beneficial to the British Empire. so he did not want to deescalate the conflict which ultimately led to the suicide of the West and 2 world wars. Thanks, Winston.
One thing I learned about the UK when I was teaching their curriculum and using their materials, is that they think they are always right, and they have the right to preemptively do very dirty things because "we're Britain". I frequently got into "discussions" with English eggheads who felt that the worst decision the USA ever made was to leave their control. Arrogant a-holes.
IMO, the kindest thing we can say about our "relationship" with England, and all the grief they caused the USA, is "with friends like that, who needs enemies".
