With high hopes and dreams, I'd like to start shooting PRS production class. With Thunder Valley officially being approved for monthly PRS matches, that gives me even more reason to buy a new rifle. I've looked at and considered an RPR, CTR, HMR and the EuroOptic deal on the TSR-1. Just looking for some advice and direction. Btw, the CTR and/or HMR would be 6.5. RPR 6mm creed and of course the TSR would be 260.

I like the Tikka action so the TSR seems like a good choice though you'll lose a bit of speed with the 20 inch barrel. I couldn't get comfortable with the RPR buttstock but it shot fine and cycled well.

I like the rpr with a 6cm. I shoot the .243 now, its not a ferrari, but its accurate and cycles well. I also polished the bolt to get rid of the zip. I like the mag selection for it on the stages that are over 10 rounds. And at that price point you can get a decent optic. I find i need far more work than the gun. If i start getting good enough to win national matches, ill get a higher dollar setup.

Don't believe you can. I'm not even sure you can change out the brake since it comes with one. I'm really torn between the TSR and 6mm creed RPR. I'll likely get the TSR now and RPR later. Oh the decisions us poor folk have to make.

I would just get what you want/can afford an not worry about if it falls into production or open. At the club level i'm not even sure if they make the distinction of Open vs Production. The club series has a classification system that is different than the PRS points race is which is all the two day matches.

Any of the guns you listed will shoot well enough to play the game and it really comes down to which one has the best feel for you.

Listen to what teerex says. The cost difference between a "production" setup and some other open rifle is not that big a deal in the grand scheme of the cost of shooting the sport. Plus there's literally no one shooting in the production division. There are only 8 shooters in the national standings and they don't track open vs tactical vs production at the club level.

Ok. So what you're saying is, take the plunge. Buy/build the rifle of my dreams (TL3 in a Manners of some flavor), top it with a Gen 2 Razor, and grow into it by shooting the piss out of it? Got it. Lol. I've truly considered clearing out the safe and investing in a couple dream guns.

I think the Bergera has a better action. I have a few Tikka's and the HMR has a nicer action IMO....add in the footprint and the HMR is a very hard rifle to beat for the price. The only thing I would want is a longer barrel.

get what you want and can afford, but don't get hung up on fitting into the box of production class. The class itself is a neat idea, but in the scheme of what match shooting cost the rifle really doesn't even add up to that big of a part of it. Since you mentioned TVP i'm assuming you're somewhat local to OH and there seems to be more happening in the area which is nice. There are a lot of great guys who would be willing to let you check out their rigs and help as much as possible

Production division doesn't seem to be taking off. With all the club level matches going on now it might not ever take off.

That aside, as an RPR owner I wouldn't recommend the RPR because of the factory handguard. The slim round profile doesn't stabilize well off barricades even with a bag. A lot of the barricades are hard enough without the gun flopping side to side if you barely let off supporting it.
