Inherited and old 10/22 carbine from an uncle of mine. Wanted a lightweight rimfire for my 8yo. Went with a Tacsol barrel, KRG bravo, Kidd 2 stage. Little holosun red dot for now.

She loves Transformers and specifically Optimus. So started with a crimson KRG and sponged it out as follows.

Sponged over with KG flat red:

Very good rifle for starting out. All of my kids have 10/22 rifles my dad customized for them. They range from very traditional to quite wild. They all fit the kids personality. Yours turned out great

I love it.

I don't have kids - I'm 40 and realize I'm not like to have any, shoot I have enough trouble taking care of myself ... I lost my ~12yr old Australian Cattle Dog this year, he was my son - but this is exactly the type of thing I would look forward to doing if I had kids.

Looks sweet, good on ya.

What does it weigh w/o bipod??
Not much. The barrel is aluminum with a steel sleeve, kind of like a Proof. I built a 22 bolt gun on a Bergara carbon fiber barreled action for my 10 year old, who is stronger, and it was still too heavy to tote in an XLR element. This is light enough for the 8 year old. I’ll try to get it on a scale.
