Proof Research Barrels for AXMC?

Proof is only offering so many barrels. Most calibers only have one barrel length available from Proof. I'll work on getting chart together with the options from Proof later today. I know from the list they gave me the 6.5 Creedmoor is only available in a 24" length.
The 6.5x47 Proof barrel in my AI AX is at 3,300 rounds. It is still averaging sub half inch groups, but the barrel is slowing and both ES and SD are increasing. It has been used as a match barrel for PRS style matches. Barrel life seems normal to me given the caliber and use.
Yeah, I figured that out but only after starting this thread. I think there was as much confusion at Proof about these as anywhere else but looks like they've got it sorted out now.
I want one but in 22". That's the sweet spot for me in what I'm trying to accomplish.
So what are we looking at for a 20" or 22" 6.5 Creedmoor Proof Carbon barrel for the AIAX 308 small shank/tenon rifles 5/8-24 TP?
I have a new rep at Proof and he just send me a revised list of the barrels they are offering, which I had been asking for since last week. There is some good and bad news with this updated price list.
The good news - They will be offering stainless barrels in 6 Creed, 6.5 Creed, .308, .300 WM, 300 Norma, 338 Norma, and 338 Lapua for $650. Also, pricing on the AXMC large tenon barrels are receiving a price cut down to $1,100.
The bad news is as follows - .243 has been dropped from the offered calibers. Also, the Carbon Barrels for the small tenon AI rifles had a price increase from $940 to $1,100.
I have updated the carbon barrel offerings on my website and will be adding the steel barrel offerings shortly.

I am sorry to see the .243 go....
Now umm as far as that price increase on the AX carbon, it is not clear to me if you intend to pass that on to those of us who have already placed an order on your website. So if you could describe the part of the conversation you had where you splained to him that he was going to have to hold the promised price and delivery for those orders you already had in hand, I would appreciate hearing that.
I will be talking to Proof about the issue with pricing that was given to me by my previous sales rep, regardless of the outcome with Proof, I am honoring previous web orders on my site.

Tom is correct that is a stand up offer. But it is my sincerest hope that PRDriver can hold their feet to the fire regarding their obligation they inured to deliver product at a certain price when he began to sell product based on prices he had from them. Certainly they have a right to set a different price for future sales but for those sales they should hold the price they originally quoted PRDriver.
While I do not want to pay more for the barrel I ordered, neither would I be happy if I felt PRDriver had shipped me the barrel at a loss. I placed the order in the expectation that I was getting a good barrel at a fair price and they guy selling it to me was making a fair profit for his work.
PRDRIVER that's a stand up move.
Hope proof will take care of the mixup and you don't have to take a loss for them.

So six weeks or 12-16 weeks. I ordered mine on October 31, when you I need to have my ammo by?
Has anyone received their barrels from PR yet? I am thinking about ordering one but didn’t want to wait 4 months.
I'm at 10 weeks on my order from Bugholes. When ordered in mid Oct lead time was estimated at 10-12 weeks. Figure 2 weeks around Christmas is probably lost so not really expecting until late Jan. This thread is the only source I heard suggesting lead times might be less. Plus from all the confusion at Proof over these, I'm still not convinced they've got it all together either.
I don't know how long it will take to get the barrel. But the countdown clock won't start for you until you put your order in.
You are correct...I just pre-ordered a 24” CF 6.5 CM for my AXMC
waiting can be a good thing...

I ordered a 338 Barrel on the 20th of OCT and it originally had a completion date of 5 December. I contacted Proof and it should ship between tomorrow and next week. So for the 338 MY order looks like 9 weeks or so. I have a 6.5CM Barrel on order as well with a quoted completion date of 11 January, we shall see how long that one takes. I also ordered direct from Proof so I don’t know if your wait time will differ. Quality gun parts are like good food, sometimes it takes some time, I’m in no rush.
I've offered custom barrels for the small shank AI rifles for a few years. I don't have large shank carbon blanks for the AXMC, but I've been getting requests for different lengths than Proof is offering. A shorter 6.5 Creedmoor seems to be what most are asking for. I'll see if they will makes some blanks or complete barrels if there is enough demand.
PRDRIVER I'm in the market for a Carbon Fiber barrel for my AXMC long action 300 Wim Mag 24" threaded to M18.5. What is the lead time if it's not a stock item.

I ordered (and paid) on November first so today is the end of week 13. Is there any update available?
I just got off the phone with Proof Research. I was told the small and large tenon 6.5 CM will be shipping to me next week. 300 Norma will be shipping in 2 weeks, 308 are 2.5 weeks, 6 Creed small and large tenon are 3 weeks, and 6.5x47 will be shipping in 2.5 weeks.
I had some 6.5 blanks that I use for DT SRS rifles that were placed in the same order that arrived last week while I was at SHOT.
Needless to say they have completely blown past the 6 week lead time I was originally quoted. New orders are being quoted at 14 weeks. I apologize for the delay. I am hoping that the 6.5 CM barrels show before next weekend so I can get the ones that have been spoken for sent out to customers, before I head out to visit my Sister's family the following week.

Did your barrels ship as expected? I was told in late December mine would ship any day, 6 weeks later.....
Sorry for the late response on this, I have been vacationing in Hawaii with my extended family since Friday and will be returning home on Monday. We had some weather come in and this is the first down day I have had. You can reach me via email over the next couple days or by phone on Monday.
This was the updated response I received from Proof on Friday as I was in the Airport. As you can see some of the lead times have not changed. since the update I posted two weeks ago. Some of the barrels are complete and will be shipping to me next week. As soon as they arrive here, i will be sending them back out.

Thanks PR, really looking forward to that 300 Norma. My Bartlein Norma shoots the lights out. I would expect the same on this one. I have a 6.5cm proof and 308 proof on my SA AX - same deal, great barrels!

6.5 CM and 338 LM, If I have them by Saturday I’ll shoot them both on Sunday for accuracy with a LabRadar and post a review.

I called proof with my order number for an update and was told they were ready and I gave a credit card to finalize the order and they shipped today. I ordered direct by the way....
Proof finally shipped out my 6.5 CM large and small tenon barrels today. I should have them the middle of next week. Hopefully, the rest of my order will ship quickly. The lead time was more than double what they originally quoted me. I apologize for the significant unexpected wait on these barrels.

26” 338 LM - Weight 4.0lbs - BTO 2.965 to lands With 300 OTM Berger - total weight 17.6 lbs with atlas, mag, and hellfire Brake
The chamber for the 6.5CM is identical to the .001 of my 6.5 Barrel from Tooley
The Chamber of the 338 is .060 shallower than my Factory 338......Thank goodness. I hated loading to most common BTO to clear the mag which happened to be .100 0ff the lands WTF right. Looks like a common BTO to clear the lands will be .040 from the lands, I’m digging it.
These boys are fatties! Lots of carbon fiber on these ones, a lot more than my 338 sendero that’s headed out for assembly tomorrow. The brown truck dropped off a but load of stuff today, like Christmas in March!
If you want something measured or have questions fire away, I’m not flying this week so I’m just going to finger F my new kit and load some test rounds. I also have 300rds of prime to try out that should be here by Friday. I just want the brass and to see if it’s as good as people say.

After 24 weeks, my 308 Proof finally came in. Looks great but won't have a chance to shoot for a while. Might have had earlier but they initially sent a small tenon barrel which Bugholes caught and returned. So at least the 308 AXMC Proof pre-fit barrels have finally made it out into the wild.
