There are screws going into the side of the tubes through the wood. I drilled 2 inch holes in the vertical 2x4 so the cattle gate bars slide in.

My buddy @Chizam and I are in the process of building some portable props to bring back and forth to the range to train with. Have one all built and been training with it for a couple months.
I'm working on a roof top now. Just trying to keep it compact, portable and light is the key. We have a tank trap knuckle on the way. What length do you guys recommend for the 4x4's?

Bringing this back from the dead... has anyone been able to recreate the bus stage without actually buying a goddamn bus?
Thinking about building a stand with some flat bar stock that you have to shoot off of to mimic the thin windows you have to shoot from inside of the bus and maybe some wood to get in the way to represent the seats and perhaps something overhead to make shooter's bend over to get to their shooting positions.

Kobalt saw horse, the legs lock out for very good stability and they lock up for storage too. It fits perfectly on the backseat my Jeep.

Not for prs practice, just for the backyard 22 range. Have a few others I’ve built over time as well.
Built this a few years ago when I was hoping to compete more. Found the image online and just copied what I liked about it. I’ve seen a few others that look the same for the most part posted around.
Being able to store it and then throw it in the truck and go to the range or practice around the house was the reason I liked the design. Now if I can just get myself to practice more!!

Just finished building / testing out a couple props this weekend. Had a bunch of 2x4s laying around from tearing out random jankery from my house’s previous owner.
I wanted single person portable and ideally 1 piece. Haven’t seen a tank trap as simple and portable as mine yet so I figured I’d post it. Literally folds / breaks down into (3) 6’ 2x4s. The Barricade folds up the 51”H x 40” W x 12D, with the outrigger legs. I will be adding another vertical member and a rope section, but the drill batteries ran out on me and light was fading...
They are stable enough, but I will probably bend some galvanized sheet to brace the notches in the tank trap to mitigate the eventual wear.

Honestly just through it together with scrap lumber I had and didnt even measure the heights of everything. It is at the range so ill have to go there and get some measurements. The only thing I did measure for was the cattle gate stuff so that the space was square when i welded the gate together.
I like it. The adjustable sphere on the right side is a nice touch.
I'd like it more if that was your actual backyard, and we were drinking buddies.

Ok. I like the versatility it has in it. I mostly dry practice behind our house and the less I have to move to mow the better
I had it on my concrete pad next to my garage when I was dry frying but that direction I can only shoot 25 yards to the woods. We have a 125 acre property that is about 10 minutes away and plan to eventually move it to there.
That’s awesome. I am hoping to have a place to get out a little further before to long.

Us poors had to divest from our barricades made out of renewable materials and switch to fossil fuel-based derivatives.
So here is my high modulus carbon fiber barricade nearly finished. got tired of hauling 100+kg of gear to range sessions or matches i run and the barricade was one of the items where i could do much lighter , all up weight right now is cca 6kg. A frame folds together and skids detach so you have 3 easy to transport parts , for assembly you just fix the bottom crossmember with 2 knurled bolts holding the skids,( no tools needed)
still some details missing,spiked feet, pad eyes , 3d printed end caps still need to be glued into place and numbers painted, i might also paint the whole barricade to look less......,,,,,,,,,carbon fiber

Too much work and material expense involved for that, but if someone wants to make them i can send CAD barricade files. (4axis CNC was used to cut the tubing for joints ,a the tube wall is so thin fit has to be near perfect LOL).
Honesty if anyone wanted to make this kind of barricade, have them, welded up out of aluminum tubing and simplify the design to use rectangular profiles aluminum would weigh more but not that much more and cost peanuts in comparison..
The barricade in the pics is made out of left over CF profiles i had lying in shop from various projects otherwise CF tubing alone would cost close to 1000$ , these just happen to be High Modulus which in CF is like comparing chrome-moly steel to common hot rolled black steel ,much stiffer and much more $$$ than regular CF so the tubes can be really thin-walled ,
Had a bunch of other stupid projects for the barricades drawn up with the goal of reducing the weight and bulk of this gear for the matches. But light weight solutions tend to be either material and/or work-intensive and i hope i will not be making to many any time soon
In any case, it's getting used regularly it's proving to be rock steady beyond what i dared to hope for .

I have a good idea, but seeing unique variations help.......I like this in a square or round aluminum tubing:

Those aren't mine, just ideas i liked......I like the folding design of the carbon fiber one, just thinking of aluminum.
Do these designs do anything special to secure at the bottom or does it just sit there?
Aluminum will work same as CF at fraction of the cost. I will actually be making some aluminum ones soon as Mil/LE customers of mine took a shine to that CF one , but i am not selling that one nor am i going to make any more carbon fiber baricades any time soon.
Light weight and easy to pack it came handy in recent SF sniper workshop both in the classroom and on the field.
