I just purchased TRS-2 from a well known online store. I discovered the scope was being shipped from CA. The Store is in IL. Millett is in KC. !!! I called the store 1st and was told they had their own storage facility n CA (they don't!) then I called Millett customer service and they put in touch with Jacob. He checked into it for me a found out the store was getting the scope from a different store. Was it a return? Damaged? I expressed my concern over not receiving someone else's headache. Jacob offered to have a new one brought to his office ... he would ship it to me directly ... and provide a return label to ship the "other" one back to him! How is that for great customer service? Also, I will never buy or refer anyone to this online store. T

Re: Purchase of Millett Scope via online store

Scopes change hands quite a few times before the customer gets it...the Chinese manufacturer ships it to the shipper...to the importer...to the distributor...to the wholesaler...to the dealer...to the customer...lots of trucks...even a boat in between...and some turn out to be defective before they even leave the factory...so what...??

You're worried about getting a brand new $300 scope with a lifetime warranty, and now you're pissed at a retailer who did nothing wrong. The warranty will take care of any issues that come up so what are you worried about?

If you want a scope from God's hands to yours...consider a USO.

Re: Purchase of Millett Scope via online store

I'm always amused at the post purchase butt hurt that compels some to register and post their grievance as a first effort on this or any forum. Perhaps pre-purchase research and forum participation would minimize the occurrence of these all to common thread starts... Or maybe not...

Well Welcome to the world of sales You cant always by direct from the vendor. You buy it from someone who has it in stock. This is called a drop ship it happens all of the time. I would be willing to bet that if you had had to wait to get the scope you would still be upset, the company gets the scope to you quickly and because it didn't ship from them you are upset.

Heck I get drop shipments all the time. It's called life the shit happens more then not it is used to save you and the retailer a few bucks. This way it doesn't have to ship to the store you called stay there a week then ship to you so you saved 5 bucks in shipping weather you know it or not and you get you scope sooner.

Re: Purchase of Millett Scope via online store

It's amazing everyone appears to miss the point. One, Millett is going out of its way and two, I did not buy from a 3rd party company or from someone who may have brought scopes into the country going around the manufacturer! I don't want a return item or one with problems. Finally, as far as costs .... I bought this scope to learn on. If it gets a scratch on it no big deal. When I reach the level of some who responded .. then I'll move up to higher quality. Based on what I've seen so far, I should be able to replace my scope this summer!

It's apparent you don't really know how things like this work. Nobody ever said somebody brought Millet scopes in the country going around Millet or the manufacturer, there is no way to bring them in the country going around the manufacturer because the manufacturer is a factory Millet hires to build the scopes in China. Millet pays them to make the scopes, they ship them here, then they get shipped to distributors, then to dealers, then to you. There is no way around this, it's just how it is.

Furthermore why do yo think because the retailer your ordered from didn't have them in stock and they had another retailer or distributor ship it that it is somehow some possessed return? They merely had it sent to you from either another dealer or distributor so you didn't have to wait for them to get it in stock, they were only doing it as a convenience to you. If anything you should be thanking them for doing that and not having you wait a week, but instead your in here bitching about it. Trust me, there is no getting a fixed Millet, it's a $300 Chinese scope that probably costs them $20 a piece to make, when they go back to Millet broken they go in the trash can and a new one gets shipped out to the customer. I'm not sure how much reading you did before purchase but regardless of where you order from theres a very high chance you'll get a defective scope right out of the box, it's a cheap Chinese scope and it's one of those chances you take.

It usually doesn't take people long to figure out how crappy scopes that come from China are, and you will probably end up replacing it long before summer.
