I guess Pete got lonely in the boat all by himself. He has now appointed you the executive officer of the NGN cruise line (Nobody Going Nowhere). You swallowed that blue pill to early

We don't dare want an electrician poser asking gun questions. Before you know it, we'll have plumber wannabes asking scope questions.

Glad you could weigh in, but you are completely wrong in your unilateral statement.

Different departments do things in different ways. I happen to carry my personally owned rifle. Two other Snipers on my team carry issued rifles. I can carry just about anything as long as the SWAT chain of command and the Chief approve it. That's why it's called "Special WEAPONS and Tactics". My rifle still carries the same maintenance records and gets the same inspections as the department owned rifles. The only difference is that it belongs to me.

Some department are the exact opposite and require you to carry only what they issue even if your personal equipment is better suited to the job (as asinine as that sounds).

Really, if you have your answer, you could just stop responding to the thread and let it die. You might be able to get back out of the corner alone, but with Piston Pete in tow it'll seem like a veritable black hole. Anyway, might just want to let this one die...

It takes longer than 10 days to become resident anything here. Here's some good advice: do more reading than posting for a while, then when you get a feel for things, jump back in to the fray. Lastly, if you plan on siding with Pete, it's gonna be a long road for you here hombre. Might want to distance yourself...

Then STFU and READ already. That was some of the most blatantly subtle post padding I've seen in some time anywheres. R-E-A-D.

Re: question for a REAL sniper

Not being a smartass...just wanted to check your bonifides is all. Residential has it's place, good trade but employment is never reliable.
I'm no expert on sniping either, but I read before asking. Over on an SF site, you would have been banned by your first question. Operators have little time for BS questions, they have paid too high of dues to put up with crap.
How many here are real snipers...I don't know. BUT many here know alot about the rifles and tradecraft involved. That's why I came here...to read and learn.

Yes, your right Putrid Pete. We want to post all our life's info on our Snipers Hide profile. You sir are a complete ass bag. Please go back to the senior citizens resort and tell your nurse to cut off your internet access. If you think that about him, then you better start looking through the 33,183 registered members and see how much of a life story you can gather from each of them. I think the nobody here would be you.... tells us more about what supposed firearms you have picked up? How about your "classified" operations?

Be gone, Troll.

Its obviously not designed for real snipers either...because then one should think it would be a single shot?

Re: question for a REAL sniper

I was a 2841 and not eligible for sniper training (1970-19740. I did shoot on the batallion rifle team and we were issued rifles. We had access to an armorer that checked out our weapons and tuned them but only with what was available at the range armory. When I was interviewing with our team captain (warrant officer actually) he state that if we qualified to try out for Camp Perry we would have access to "better" match grade weapons and armorer support to tune and work with us to get us and our weapon working together. I picked up a copy of Carlos Hathcock book he was selling at a Houston gun show years ago. He states in his book that they would take the new members of the sniper team and have them shoot with different team members so two shooters were able to function with the same weapon in the field. Not everyone can pick up a weapon that works for one shooter and have the same cheek weld and alignment. Snipers operate in teams and compatibility was necessary as they didn't both carry a sniper grade weapon. I didn't re-up and never went past the batallion level. That was also a long time ago but at least you have an answer. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Re: question for a REAL sniper

it is so much fun to play with the children here, i have not had this much fun since i was 'Barracks Mother" to a bunch of recruits way back in the 1960's, or was it the time a "McNamara Miracle" walked into the area of a jet intake and turned into sausage coulda been the time when some fool walked behind a F4 Phantom when i had it in full military power (afterburner for those stuck in a snoopers hideaway)
