In my humble opinion you have the two best 223 and 6.8spc. I have shot the 6.8spc in a 16” heavy barrel and a 20” “DMR” medium barrel semi-custom. 6.8spc works like a 308 out to 500-600 yards. That’s good for me!!! (if I had a 6.8spc)

Please explain how 6.8 SPC works like a .308 out to 500-600yds.
I guess we'll be hearing more about this new cartridge. Based on what I read on the Remington site, it has similar ballistics to the 7.62 x 39mm and the 30-30 Win.

Main question is what do you want to do with the gun? I personaly would just go to a 308 becouse ammo is available for the 223 and 308 more so than 6.8 And I can hit targets beyond 500-600 with my LR-308. 900 is pushing it but still thats my shooting not the gun. Let us know why you want it then we might be able to better answere your question.

What I SHOULD have said is it can BE just as effective as a 308! In Colorado a guy shot an elk, 390 yards 110gr accubond, 20” 13 twist, 3 grooves. Here is a link for the post with pictures.
