I am looking to get a new scope for my rem 700 308. my funds are very limited for immediate purchase and have been looking all over the net for the best optics for the price and have been considering an ss 10X. I have seen that the HD version gets a lot of positive said bout it. but for the price seems there would be other options unless they really do stackup to the likes of the more top end scopes (nightforce, leupold, ziess...). But for an immediate buy would the 299.99 ss 10x be worth the money or would everyone feel i should keep on saving? my dilemma is that i bought a cheapy(leapers) to get going and am not satsfied and would hate to throw a few more bills at another peace of dookie!

SS are quality at or above their price range (within obvious limits). Nearly every model has been used by someone on this site and a search will provide you with positive reviews by essentially all. If looking at the $799 HD, I would hold out for the vortex PST. FFP variable power, matched reticle, illuminated, and XD glass. Win,win, win, win.

You get what you pay for. SS is not a Ziess, Nightforce, S&B, USO. but those start at a grand. They work at the price they are sold for. Get to a gun show and look through an S&B USoptics, or Ziess etc. and you will never be satisfied with anything else. Get a night job. (I work 4 job mon) <--- in my best rasta voice.

Is "cat's ass" the opposite of "bees nuts"?

well unless you have roughly 1300 or more you are not going to get a NF or S&B but yes they are much much better than a vortex thats only 700 bucks.....

Re: r super sniper scopes as good as they say?

I've been using them for years. I have one my Rem 700 PSS .308 and one on my M14 ARMSCORP. I have shot them out to 1000 yds. I sent 100 of them to Iraq in 2004 with the 42nd ID on M14 rifles we upgrades to DM rifles. The Soldiers LOVED them!! The scopes are repeatable, solid and a great buy. I've hunted the scopes and killed deer in bean fields out to 400 yds mid day to low level light where it's JUUUST legal......dead deer.

Bottom line if your not killing things that shoot back is it worth more to put the money in practice ammo versus a $1K+ scope? The best gear in the world won't make you a better shooter. Shoot alot and often with good solid gear Will make you a better shooter.

Great expensive gear that doesn't get shot won't make the shot when you need to be at your best

Re: r super sniper scopes as good as they say?

SWFAs are a great value, dollar for dollar. I have not owned the new generations (10x42HD or 3-9x42), but have the old generation.

They simply rock for what you spend.

Re: r super sniper scopes as good as they say?

I suggest getting the non-HD Super Sniper, and use it as a stepping stone. They have a very good rep for a scope in this price range, and if you take care of it you shouldn't have any problems selling it here, when you are ready to take the next step,(I can't say the same for the leepers).
Happy Shooting, SScott

Do you have any pictures? I'd love some for our site and catalog.

Re: r super sniper scopes as good as they say?

M25BeastShooter about say it all. The SS line of scopes are very good for the price. You will not be disapointed and when it comes time to upgrade you can resell it for almost what you have in it. They hold there value, in fact if you look around you can probably find a used one, then when you sell it loss no money at all.
