Random brass ejection pathway on new build, ideas?

If you watch the video on the first gun (my new build) you can see one brass go back to 3:30/4:00 and the very next go to 3:00 and then the next two go to 3:00 and then one to 4:00.

The gun cycles OK but if this is an issue I would like to nip it in the bud before a problem crops up. I do not see any claw marks on brass or any other weird marks. The brass look normal.

The second gun is a DD upper and all brass goes exactly to 4:00.

Just need to slow down the bolt. If you are not using a H buffer would recommend doing so. If its still kicking it out about the same think about getting the spikes tactical T2 tungsten buffer.

I have the H now which weighs 3.9oz. The spikes is 4.05oz. Would 1/10th of an ounce make that much difference or should I go with an H2 at 4.6oz?

Anyone on the weight? Would .15 ounce make any difference or should I go more?

Like you, I don't see that small a difference making a difference, but the Spikes is filled with powder rather than solid weights, which may make a difference. Personally, if the gun is ejecting without malfunction, I don't see a problem with it.

Spoke to spikes and their tech guy said it was a gas issue and possibly a gas leak or ??

He said random ejection patters all over are gas issues and did not think the weight would help.

Now what?

Do you have the tools to remove the upper hand guard and check the gas block? If so, I would. Also check to make sure the gas block is set in the right position, being canted or off center of the hole may be causing an issue. I would also check the gas key on the bolt and gas tube itself. If they say its the gas system then check the gas system.

Easy fix....install a adjustable gas block. It amazes me why so many people are against this simple enhancement that allows you to have full control over the bolt velocity.

Its random not over or under gassed.

Raineer mounted it straight. I trust its right as they make lots of guns. But looking at it I can see its straight.

Well...in your own posts above you are leaning towards a gas issue. So....logic would dictate that if you have more control over the gas system (adjustable gas block) then you can fine tune it and maybe "cure" the problem. Plus being able to regulate the gas has many other benefits. I will such benefits to your own research if your interested.

Again....an adjustable gas block is cheap, easy to install (if your halfway handy with hand tools about a 10-20 min. job) and gives you full control of bolt velocity,etc.,etc.
