It was a nasty day yesterday; 15 degrees, spitting snow and very windy. So I went shooting. I couldn't get my buddy to go along; he only likes to shoot if it's warm and no wind; and always from the bench. He can shoot better bench groups than me, but not in field conditions. I bought six 2-liter orange soda bottles from WalMart for $0.67 each and hauled them out. I put them in my pack and walked them out to the hillside. I had to really secure them because the wind was so strong. I got back to the bench out of breath so I got down on the ground and shot prone while breathing hard. The first one at 162 yards was an easy first shot hit. All the others out to 512 yards took multiple shots. The wind was killing me. The wind was changing directions and gusting from zero to 40+ MPH. Oh well, I had a good time and learned a little more about shooting in the wind.
