Hey guys, I've been playing around with all sorts of new loads for my .308 since I put the new barrel on it. I went with a 22" Krieger and the smith that did the work told me that he used a reamer appropriate for the Sierra SMK, whatever that means.

Anyway, I loaded up 50 of the 155 Palma SMKs to 2.8" OAL with varying charge weights. When I got to 45gr of RL15, I shot 3 five round groups. The largest came in at just over .3" and the smallest at around .15" at 100 yards. I felt that this showed some promise, but what really surprised me was that my chrony was showing a solid 2800 FPS for this load.

Does that sound right to you guys?

I think you can get a little bit more speed out of em. Friends are getting 2900+ out of the Scenars. They have longer bbls but not that much longer

Yeah, i figured that i could squeeze a bit more out of 'em. I was just sirprised that i was actually getting the published velocity out of the load with a 22" barrel. If my chrony is right I'll be able to get to 2900 fps without exceeding the published data.

Now see what they do at 300 to 600 yards.. (If planning to use they at those ranges)

An amazing 100 yard load can do totally different things at 300 to 600 yards..
