Really Right Stuff Anvil 30 Retro Kit

So, I went to MHSA today and they have a lot of Anvil 30s in right now, so I grabbed a Retro Kit to give it a try

Super straightforward to upgrade, word of warning, the tiny spring under the leg lock is a bitch. One came out, it was probably out of whack a bit as soon as I took the leg off it sprang. The rest stayed in place with no issue. But getting it back into place is a bitch.

Read through the instructions once prior, it helps avoid the spring issue, but I wish I had a better picture of the spring in place, that is the only thing missing from the instructions. I winged it a bit, but it functions fine.

The locking mechanism is super tight on the Anvil 30 head, but adjustable and nice. I am gonna try to balance it this weekend to adjust it just perfect for me.

Yeah I hear you on the spring! Sorry about not putting that in the instructions. My little piece of advice is tape the silver leg lock in place before you remove the leg so the whole assembly can not lift off.

Does that still void the warranty if you change the timing?

@MountainHunter the warranty is voided after it takes more than 25 lbs of force to close the handle on a scale, or when if somehow you were able to deform the metal at the pressure points. Basically it will be up to our discretion and we typically trust our customers.

Now that you have time on them, are the as stable (ie wind vibrations shaking the rifle or shooter wobble) as the leveling base or between the 55 and leveling base?

They are the strongest thing we have made and the whole system is more rigid then the other systems due to the apex not being hollow like the others. I cant speak for wind vibration as that would be more for a spotter setup, not touching, the system, just observing, and that does not happen often. I really like shooting off of this setup!

No tent this time, it's in Weld County Somewhere as opposed to Morgan County. We have a second Connex as a classroom now, with a TV for the PPT.
